My expectations for the first one were pretty low. But, it kept me entertained. I'll likely see the new one barring terrible reviews.
I'm south american but even I know real mexican. Real Mexicans Guillermo del Toro Alfonso Cuarón Carlos Reygadas Alejandro González Iñárritu 3rd generation can't speak spanish b*stard hybrid fake Mexican Robert Rodriguez.
I really enjoyed Planet Terror. Great fun. Robert Rodriguez doesn't make Mexican style films. He makes Texas films. The influence of our great state is all over them.
Consider Rodriguez Tex Mex if we are making food comparisions. In his defense I don't think he's trying to portray himself as authentic Mexican. Rodriguez and his BFF, Quentin Tarantino, make pulp films, QT is just much more talents as a writer and director.
I don't understand this whole RR is not Mexican thing, please explain??? From Dusk till Dawn is one of my fav movies like ever???
Think what percicles is referring to is that RR isn't a Mexican filmmaker like, say, Guillermo del Toro, who is a born and bred Mexican. Different sensibilites and styles. Mexican filmmakers have certain styles. Rodriguez is very Tex Mex in terms of filmmaking and influences.

I am. I think this movie looks r****ded. Ironically, I liked the 1st one because it played off as a joke from the faux trailers from GrindHouse.
I enjoyed the first one immensely. I'll see this one too, when it comes out on video. Not saying everyone has to dig Mexsploitation, but comparing this thing to Del Toro isn't exactly fair.
Danny Trejo sure doesnt seem to mind it TOO much. I know that a willing participant from the same ethnicity doesnt mean that "Now its OKAY to NEGATIVELY STEREOTYPE for FUN!" But I'm wanting to think its more in lines of "Larry the Cable Guy" self lampooning then outright insulting mockery
