I don't think it has anything to do with how popular it is, I think people are just thinking it's something that it's not. Seems like people are swayed due to the visuals which are amazing yet when you take a look in the actual story, it's bland and really nothing original. Did anybody else cringe when they found out what the Marines wanted from the planet? Unobtainium? Really? :grin: Worth watching once.
I agree with this. There is no way the story was terrible, it just was not original. That does not make it boring, especially considerring many people today have not seen many of the movies its story is being compared to like dances with wolves.
I've never seen this movie in 3d before so I pulled the trigger and bought the over-priced 3d Blu-ray version off of Amazon so I can watch it on my 3D 65" Panasonic. Holy molly...this movie is epic compared to when I watched it on my small Blackberry screen. The grand scale of Pandora was so great, that the mediocre story didn't bother me at all. Makes me curious if the IMAX released looked better. I will no longer watch any movie on my Blackberry again. The 3d disc is only available on Panasonic which is crap. A lot of people will be missing out on this.
