The other Cameron movie about a ship sinking and pretty boy sacrifice for a fat girl gets that title. This movie is mightily fine.

havent seen it and not going to. movie about blue indians with pocahontas meets dances with wolves in space. i think everyone is seeing it for the tech, im not that gullible. $30 isnt worth it. you wont get that feel at home since imax is the only way to see it. that means its more of a event than a movie . no idea why it won a oscar. coupled with cameron being a rip off artists.

terminator = stole idea from 60's twilight zone episode(he admits this)
titanic = not his idea,it really happened,he just added special effects and a love story
    avatar=pocahontas in 3-d

seen several movies in imax 3d , i liked it at first but it gets old fast, you want a original story avatar doesnt have it. i will not "root for" blue people nor will i "root for" the earth destroying army. in other words,i could care less who wins the battle.

^^ By that logic, pretty much every filmmaker in hollywood is a "hack" artist. What idea is truly original these days. Even original ideas are culled from a myriad of sources and life experiences, some being your own and some not.

You may not like him as a filmmaker nor enjoy his films, but you cannot deny that he's an incredibly talented director and his films are truly impressive.

lol...thats rich. judging a movie without actually having seen it. actually with your preconceived notions about cameron and his work, you wouldn't like it even if you watched it.

btw it won the golden globes, not the oscar.

Except they wasted a bunch of time with some crappy story arcs. Those stories maximized opportunities to blow crap up -- which is good for the box office -- but was death for any real sci-fi potential.

maybe, but avatar still has legs and its going to be running for a while.

i know what you mean, but cameron does do action in his movies. As much as I like sci-fi, i like some action. Overall, i just think its hard to be too critical for it not being as scifi as you'd like. But i do agree, the scifi aspect of this film is very interesting

Out of curiosity, what was the last truly original great movie you saw? And who is the best director?

It was alright, but sure seemed to move fast for a movie that long. Probably should have been three movies and stopped to smell the flowers a bit more.
As it was, it looked great, but they seemed to have too much ground to cover.

I definitely don't understand the amount of hype, but having said that I did enjoy it. Overrated? Maybe, but only because people are just a little too excited about it. It was better than the also overrated Titanic.

You could have ended your post there and we'd have been the same way.
You wouldn't want to see that? GOOD TRADE.
What you think doesn't match with everyone's reason.
Then don't take your 2 brosephs and go by yourself so you can enjoy it alone.
That's not what it means. And IMAX is not the "only way" to see it. Please see it in all three formats (regular, 3d regular, and 3D Imax), then come back to let us know which way is better. You'll never know from just "hearing it". Haven't you ever experienced something on your own? I hope you have.
It won a GOLDEN GL... oh, someone already corrected you on that. Sorry.
Dude. I'd pay to see Pocahontas in 3-D. I love me some Pocahontas'ish chicks.
All movies you've seen haven't been remakes at all?
    Man, are you negative.
Cool. Now we know that you don't know the ending or how it ends. Should I spoil it for you?

    bump.

sall it again but this time in the "real" imax screen at Marq*e.

just as great but i would actually recomend the cheaper "real d" screen.

    1) you pay less.
    2) you dont have to wait in a line.
    3) you'll most likely have a better seat.

still. everyone should see this movie.

Just saw it with the family at the IMax 3D and it was spectacular. I think it lived up to all the hype and then some.
