I tried to watch it last week on Xmas Eve, went to MarqE Cinema23 IMAX for the 7pm show just to found out the tickets has been sold out since 11am rofl
Why are some of you actually arguing with people that didn't like the movie? I've never understood that. It's their opinion, big deal. Not like it really matters. Also, I've kept my 3D glasses every time I've seen it. Not on purpose though. I just totally forget about the bin on my way out. My theater doesn't put it right in the way where you can't miss it.
There were people who didn't like Titanic either. Money talks........as to whether it is a success or not. And it is SCREAMING right now. DD
Avatar for a third time tonight...movie does not get boring...it's like watching Serenity, I can watch it over and over. Sucks though... the projectors weren't calibrated right or something; there was definite shadows or ghosting, whatever you call it...I was completely disoriented 5 minutes in and it took half the movie for my eyes to adjust. That didn't happen last time.
not gonna post my thoughts because i don't feel like arguing. severely disappointed. 3D cool for about 10 minutes, but even with that - beowulf came out about 2 years ago...i would have thought this would have had mindblowing upgrades to the 3D in that, but it was about the same for me.
Technically we paid for them. I mean 11:50 for a movie is a lot. Going to see it again tomorrow with one of my homeboys. Can't wait
What's interesting is this movie is making more during the weekdays on it's second week of release then the first. Mon/Tues/Weds of last week it was averaging about $16 million per day Mon/Tues/Weds of this week it's averaging about $18 million per day I guess more people are off, but it's still impressive. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=avatar.htm
I am going to see it again next week when people go back to work and there will be less people in the theater. DD
Very impressive. The question is, is there a movie (PG-13 and down) coming up in January that can put a dent into Avatar? I don't see one. Avatar could really keep rolling all threw January.
There are two types of 3D - polarized 3D and red-green 3D (or whatever the two colors are) Polarized definitely wouldn't work unless your TV can handle two different images simultaneously with different polarized light (which it can't). You'd need a special TV for the polarized system to work. Red/Green is the older way of doing it, and those kinds of glasses probably would work on a TV. I imagine that's just a matter of overlaying two images with a slight color shift, so a regular TV should be able to do that. I assume that's how Chuck 3D and things like that were shown last year, though I never saw them.
Agreed Major, but I have a projection system, and as I understand it, they put a special lense on the projector to use the Real 3D option. I was hoping they deliver a home version of that. DD
Saw it last night, and got out of the theatre at 1AM. Easily one of the greatest and most enjoyable movie experiences I've had. The IMAX 3D was outstading. I initially was looking to buy tickets for the 3PM show, but it sold out. Then the 7PM show sold out as well, so we were able to get the 10:30PM showing which also finally sold out. I'll be glad to tell people I saw such a movie in an actual theater when it first came out.
Its kind of funny because people I watched it with thought it would be cool for the same thing to happen to them. Human to Navi. I think if you imagine something in a movie being a reality or even a possibility in your life, it makes things that much more interesting. Thought the Navi's lifestyle was very cool and the animals in the movie were original looking creatures. Great movie.
