I haven't heard confirmation on a sequel yet either. But, i do think he will end up not doing Battle Angel. I mean, most of the stuff he does is his own, why would he do an adaptation of an anime/manga? I personally think it sounds stupid for a live action, a 14 year old cyborg girl kicking ass? Check out the new "Kick Ass" trailer.
Sorry, I wrote it wrong. I meant to say that James Cameron said it wouldn't take as long as it took Avatar to make because they basically have the tools to make the sequel a go. Here's JC talking about Avatar sequel: http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1628605/story.jhtml Also, on Conan he was saying that he is definitely thinking sequel.
Yeah, but your name CF name is "McGrady" which already tells me your judgement is a little bit off. As for me, I loved it. The Graphic Animation as absolutely amazing. It really was a mix of Fern Gully, Pocahontas(SP?), and Halo. All three are great stories which automatically makes this a win.
That's what I remember hearing and it makes sense..he had to wait 12 years for the tech to be there. Not sure how I feel about a sequel, but it could be interesting... Spoiler Right before Home Tree fell, Jake talked about the fact if they go to war, more Sky People would come. So, would The Company decide to cut their losses and find other worlds to mine, or would they mobilize all their resources and money to eliminating the Na'vi to get to the unobtanium. The last Act of Avatar could be a mere skirmish to what a sequel would bring. And consider we've only seen one portion of Pandora...there could be other clans (than what we saw) and other creatures, bigger and badder than what we saw in the first.
Spoiler I think he was basically telling them to run b/c they would call for more backup in that one scene.
I did think that too, but it could mean the other as well...should they make a sequel..thought at the same time, that could be pretty redundant if they go that route.
James Cameron: Avatar sequels would explore new moons http://insidemovies.moviefone.com/2009/12/23/avatar-sequels-new-moons-james-cameron/ Like JunkyardDwg said more areas to explore = new creatures and new worlds
eh, but what kind of story could they do. Human beings are "evil" route is not gonna work again. And also starts becoming like the humans are the "Empire" from Star Wars

I just got back from seeing this and was really impressed with the look of the film. I have my nitpicks but overall it was an enjoyable experience. The 3D was done well and when this technology gets better it's going to just be incredible.
Caught a matinee and it was definately entertaining and visually stunning but also definately a hackneyed plot.
Visually stunning. Going to watch it for the 2nd time. The story has some similarity with Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky.
I enjoyed it. Obviously, in a technical/visual sense it is one of the most impressive movies I've ever seen. Storywise it is a little generic and predictable, but it's not a 'bad' story and is certainly entertaining. Overall a fun movie.
I think I saw the movie when I was a kid and it was called fern gully. It was pretty impressive especially on a real imax screen.
I want one of those Banshees for Christmas. The storyline may not be original but the interpretation and portrayal is awe-inspiring!!
Saw it in 3D today....I thought it was a visual masterpiece. The plot wasn't all that original but what is these days? Definitely worth the price of admission. I think I will see it again after the holidays, maybe bring my daughter.
SPOILER:::: Did it bother anyone that the earth people with all the advanced technology couldn't take care of forest people and had to surrender? It reminded me of the silliness of return of the jedi where ewoks defeat the empire with bow and arrows, only they actually had some help from the rebels.
