So if he did Brokeblack Mountain would that show his versatility? Better question, who is a versatile actor to you.
one of my favorite reminded me of those Great Charles Bronson Movies THE EVIL THAT MEN DO Rocket River
johnny depp is a versatile actor. ed wood pirates of the caribean blow edward scissor hands chocolat the guy is the definition of range, and to answer your question, he doesn't have to play a homosexual, just someone who vulnerable, or weak, he has never played a weak character
Agreed, but Johnny Depp may be one of the greatest actors of our time. In "He got game" you don't think he was vunerable? Remember... "Hate put me in here, but Love is gonna bust me out"? The line gives me chills just thinking about it.
Exactly, the music was unbelievably bad and not really needed IMO. The intro music was a little out of place but it was funny how it just cut off abruptly and went into the dramatic music, whoever was in charge of music was terrible IMO. There were some pretty funny parts in the movie at least, that was probably the funniest line. I felt the exact same way. It kinda seems like they just threw an ending together trying to tie things up. You see what happened and that's about it. I spent 20 minutes trying to explain who the inside man was and I realized that I really didn't know.
Heh, all the black dude's arguing about Denzel. Guess I gotta join in. I think range is great for actors, but something's also got to be said for intensity and believeability. Those are two things that Denzel really excells at. And for the record, I think he has MUCH better range than, oh, say, Will Smith. His portrayal of Biko in "Cry Freedom" was great, imo.
AstroRocket - LOL Philadelphia - "Let's just talk about what this trial is about!" - pompous lawyer who thinks he's right Fallen - " [i have no quote for this] " - pompous cop who gets played who thinks he's right all the time Man on Fire - pompous American retired bodyguard in Mexico who thinks he's right all the time Out of Time - pompous cop who stomps on cellular and thinks he's right Remember the Titans - pompous coach who thinks he can coach and thinks he's always right Training Day - pompous corrupt cop who thinks he's right Malcom X - pompous activist guy who thinks he's right by all means necessary Crimson Tide - pompous disrespecting officer to a navy captain who thinks he's right How about he plays a r****ded dood? NOPE. He won't play in a comedy. NOPE. He won't play in a horror movie. He will NEVER play someone who takes orders... bah... one-dimensional Denzel...
My dream movie would be Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise in a buddy comedy. The two most popular drama/action stars of the past 20 years falling down and telling bad jokes...I'm already there...
sssshhhhhh pgabriel has strayed from the black group thought. . . we must beat him back into submission . . . SwoLy-D - you are just plain wrong and obviously in love with the word pompous have you even seen these movies. . . .just because u watched them don't mean you seen them YOU CAN'T HEAR JIMI!!! Rocket River
OK, OK, sorry... I meant "arrogant, full of himself, pretentios" a couple of times... and I have seen all of these movies... I pretend I am "giving denzel a chance" every time I see one of his movies... 'cuz he's the same guy and I know it before hand... I am wondering if the REAL coach in Remember the Titans ever went back to him and said: "Man, Denzel... I was NOT that arrogant, man... cool it..." ? SwoLy is not black, by the way...
You are not black!!! I'm so shocked! I didn't find his character Arrogant in Remember the Titans he was not overly humble and Shuckin' and Jivin' for the white folx but He basically stood his ground. What did you find Arrogant about it? Rocket River
I agree with pgabriel that Denzel is a good actor but lacks range. The actor with the most range I can think of is Daniel Day-Lewis. He is such a good actor that I can't label him with any particular style or personality. Part of it is his role choice, but that doesn't take away from his acting ability. Dude is awesome.
