Was thinking the same thing. That and the queen. She was pretty badass but was a bit wasted. And Robert Loggia. What an awkward and uncomfortable moment that was. Think they were trying too hard to bring back the whole cast from the first.
Wow, what a piece of garbage. There was nothing good about this movie- even Goldblum looked like he was sleepwalking through it. Just about everyone in the cinema hated it- lots of snickering, sighing and groans all the way through. When the end credits rolled, everyone laughed and left quickly. What a disaster.
I saw it last Thursday on premiere night. Movie was packed because there weren't any reviews for it yet. Everyone is correct in that it was hot garbage. Acting was 3rd rate, plot was made even more stupid with the A.I. ball. I watched the original earlier this week, the stark differences in the quality of picture would make you angry that 20 years to make a sequel and it was utter ****.
Saw this movie recently. I went into it expecting/knowing it to be bad and cheesy. That said, it's not like the first is some revered masterpiece. It's obviously much better, but I didn't the cheesy-ness of the sequel given I expected it. And I would not be opposed to more sequels, now that they've set it up for such. Sure the "hive" thing has been considered and done in sci-fi many times, and sure the AI ball was ridiculous, but it's still a sci-fi space world that holds some interest to me. In other words, even though it will not be a good movie, I still want to see Independence Day 3 which of course takes place in space.
