i felt this movie was too short. I loved the dog, it was TOO cute!! Will Smith is an outstanding actor...plus his body was
Women in the audience went nuts in our theater. Couldn't hear anything for a good minute. Dog was the best part of the movie for me being an dog owner and all. I'm sure others who have dogs probably feel the same way.
Saw movie and read book. Movie was good, but I liked the books angle. Movie is just suspenseful. Not too much substance there really. The book, of course, was fairly interesting. It's a short read for those interested. Half of the book is I Am Legend, with the other half being a collection of short stories. I was kind of disappointed in that. Movie: Spoiler I thought there was no question that the trap was set by the vampire-zombies. They moved "Fred" there, had the trap set right in front of him, and the head vamp-zombie was in the buiding right behind it waiting once it was dark enough. Don't know why it could have been anything else. Robert's thoughts that the vampire-zombies were de-evolving was just his observation. At least the head guy could still think. The monsters, as I'll call them now, were just the run of the mill hollywood monsters. Neville set up the trap for the female vamp-zombie right before planting the blood. Why would he have done the 2nd trap and forgot about it? he's too mythodical and precise. While being saved by the woman, he even said, I live here, but don't lead them back, wait until dawn. This is while he's half knocked out. Book: Spoiler Seemed like the only common things between the book and movie were the main char and the title, heh. No dog (except the one he came across that died). No woman and kid, unless they represented the "other" society in the movie, but didn't seem like it. Vampires were able to speak and move like "normal" human beings. Women making lude gestures to him, playing on the fact that he's a man and has the needs of a man. It was dark in that sense and mentioned that he had considered it. Book started off months (not years) following the eradication of humans. Neville was a white dude, using more traditional means of disposing of vampires. I was interesting reading about how the vampires (not zombies at all) were completely dormant during the day, and he was able to kill them easily. I liked how they tried to explain the reason the vampires were how they were, and how they talked about garlic, crosses, light, etc. How it ended up being 3 parties involved. Neville, undead vamps, and almost-human vamps. The new society kills him off since they fear him and all. But he only killed them (mostly) when they were dormant. So why would they fear him if they were awake? I only very quickly read the book, and I'm probably missing a lot of detail. Anyway, it was a good read. Please do discuss the book more if you've read it.
my 2 cents: I loved this movie. I've seen it twice and will probably get it when it comes out on DVD. Will Smith did an outstanding job. He sure has come a long way from Fresh Prince. The special effects of a deserted NYC is amazing. The movie was intense throughout, so may not be the best movie for the feint of heart. Higly recommended.
Yeah, the Dog > Will Smith. Pretty entertaining movie though. Big fan of Will since the Fresh Prince days. He's always great in "world is ending" movies. ID4 was one of my favorites.
I just saw this movie and thought the first 3/4 and Will Smith were excellent. I thought the ending was just plain weak and wrapped itself up in a very unsatisfying way.
I finally got to see this movie. I liked it overall. Man it is 3 weeks since it releases and the theater I saw it in was still packed (Edwards on 59)
I just saw this on DVD Why was he hunting the deer? for food? why were dogs the only animals affected
Yeah, he probably doesn't have the opportunity to get fresh meat very often... Don't know bout the other stuff though.
serious question, do you think he could have used steroids to get so buffed. I've never seen him look that big, his arms were massive.
His arms are big, but he actually slimmed down for I am Legend. http://fitnessblackbook.com/fitness...s-down-for-new-role-in-the-movie-i-am-legend/
Saw this movie a couple weeks ago. Not bad. Not great, but watchable. Unlike most folks, I didn't form some kind of emotional bond with the dog. I guess it was TOO hollywood a dog- come on, walking on a treadmill? Who knows why dogs got the virus too. He was hunting the deer because it's fresh meat. Wouldn't you after eating canned spam and lima beans for three years? Not a very subtle way of hunting though, although I suppose I would try it if I were the l Will Smith's physique was kind of over the top...but on the other hand, what else did he have to do? It's kind of like being in prison. And he didn't have a 'roid body. People can be buff without juicing. He's always been thin, he just put some muscle on. And I think he was bigger in Ali. The vampires- pretty weak in a way. They couldn't communicate outside of grunts and hisses, but they were smart enough to set a counter-weighted snare and have vampire-dogs on leashes? But they were good enough for this movie, I suppose. I liked the alternate ending better. Even with the butterfly imagery, it was better and less hollywood than Will Smith colliding with the lead vampire with a grenade.
