it's pretty standard knowledge among martial arts circles that bjj black belts generally can't be bought. it would destroy the reputation of the person who issued the black belt if it ever got out that he was just selling or giving away belts. its a totally different system than taekwondo and ive been in both. taekwondo has kind of become a joke in america and if you have the cash, it takes about 3-4 years to get a black belt. it took me 3 years. bjj on the other hand, ive been doing for over 2 years and am still a white belt. we dont have any "belt tests" or testing fees in our school. the head instructor just decides when youre ready, and thats when you get your next belt. joe rogan says that ed o'neill is legit too, and rogan definitely knows his stuff when it comes to bjj/mma
Not about to derail this thread but the Jay-Z haters really don't ever have any valid arguments. 3ther w@s sick, Na$ > GayZ lulzllz. Reasonable Doubt alone gives him legendary status. Hop the **** off the general bias of picking sides between Nas & Jay-Z. It doesen't make you a "realer" Hip Hop fan if you're like "team nas brah, illmatic brah, ether brah, big lips copies biggie brah". Give credit where credit is due. Just because he went commercial doesen't mean his past successes should be discounted for.
Bruce Lee, Muhammad Ali, Elvis Presley Jay-Z Absurdity... If you are going to throw a legendary emcee out there atleast make it Rakim. Come to think of it, just don't do it...
How about this. Jay-Z is a marginal emcee, with a history of mediocrity that is most loved by modern tween-wave Lebronites...
I agree in terms of importance and legacy... They should just edit out Paul Rodriguez segment, he be sayin some outlandish ****....
I agree. TKD is infamous for having schools that are nothing more than belt mills. One of my students was a third degree black belt in TKD at age 18. He said he didn't feel like he earned it and they just gave him those ranks because his parents kept on paying for classes and belt tests. He was a good athlete and ended up getting a black belt in Judo after years of study and taking second at US Nationals. He said that his Judo Shodan was much more meaningful than his third degree in TKD.
That's because the majority of TKD schools now a days are McDojos. As far as Al Bundy goes, no one should question the legitimacy of his belt. He's been studying at Gracie Academy in Torrance for like 15 years or something, and he got it under H(R)orian Gracie.
