I don't care, call me an idiot... I’m in Denver at the moment and saw the movie at the UA Pavillion Downtown on Christmas night. The majority of the people in the auditorium were enjoying the movie (laughing/giggling) including myself and the people I was with ... maybe everyone else was high as a kite, but I know my entourage/myself were completely sober, and all our senses were intact!! Maybe it was a Christmas miracle or whatever but I enjoyed the movie! It’s well known what type of humor Will Ferrell brings to the table. This movie, you'll either find moronic or it will hit the sweet spot. Most members here already figured out, I have a YUGE sweet spot.... ....... ....... .......
You know, everytime I'm here, I get an urge to call him, but I'm with family/friends. I actually drove by Boulder this morning on my way to Estes Park. Maybe one day I'll meet the great @heypartner ... ....... ....... .......
People are saying this could be the worst movie since Ishtar. Seriously, this movie looks so bad that it almost seems deliberate. Are we being trolled?
It is worse. You can literally look at Will Farrell and tell he knows it is horrible. The script is all time bad. There are pauses before the "jokes" because they are so bad.... Farrell winced before his delivery on some of the especially bad ones..... they just looked like they wanted to get it over with.
So, instead of Step Brothers 2, Talladega Nights 2, or any any of the other possible layups in terms of sequels we get this new movie that's a turd? Hell, I would pay to see those two just spoof buddy cop films for 90 minutes.
Exactly. Someone got cute and decided that a Sherlock Holmes spoof was in order. The problem is that it is so formulaic that it doesn't allow them to be funny or creative. The scenes with the Queen are especially bad. They essentially took the idea of the prim and proper English and threw two America "jack asses" in the middle of it...... it takes the angle that the Pink Panther did with Steve Martin...... all of the classic jokes are there but they just are not funny and you see Farrell and sidekick try really hard to make them funny by being more over the top, hoping to compensate for the terrible script. It reminds me of a Jester trying to entertain the King to avoid death.... it isn't funny, and it isn't funny awkward like the British Office...... it is just sad..... like seeing Olajuwon trying to play at 40 in a Raptors jersey.... you feel ashamed for watching it.
