I liked it... Sort of a chick flick, but it was still entertaining. Don't care for Kevin James usually, but he played this role well, and I'm a huge Will Smith fan.
I'm going to have to suck it up and give credit where credit is due. The wife and I saw Hitch today. We wanted to see Sideways, but the time didn't work out. I owed her a chick flick so I bit the bullet and we saw Hitch. I'll have to admit, there were some legit laugh out loud moments. I thought the dance scene with James doing "the q-tip" was hilarious. *** SPOILER *** Although James hooking up with that gal so quickly was a little far fetched.
Total chick flick and it was kinda entertaining, but nothing worth seeing again...I'm still waiting to see Sideways and Bride and Prej.
***** SPOILER ***** And another thing...just because Hitch was outed in the newspaper, why would or should he have to quit his business? It would seem to me his business would be booming after successfully hooking up a nobody with a somebody.
Because he said in the movie that his business thrives on word of mouth, not newspaper outting... Although, I agree with you, just because he was outed didn't mean he had to stop, but I do understand why.... He's practically a celebrity just by being outed - there's no way he could have effectively run his business the way it was intended. I liked the movie, but the ending was a little wierd IMO. I mean, it was inevitable that they would get back together, but the way it went down was just off somehow.
But why not? (I can't believe I'm trying to get this in-depth with this movie.) Couldn't he still do his background work undercover? Meet his clients on the down low? It's not as if the women have to know he's helping the guys they are dating. Just think of the money he could make from books. He'd be the next Dr Phil.
just think of it this way, every time he sits down with another man, people would stop and say, "hey are you helping this guy? good luck man! Can you give me advice too? etc etc etc" Plus, if he sold books, women would read them just to see what he said, and then no woman would ever go the last 10% ever again...
I thought it was a great, entertaining movie. Will Smith was great, Eva Mendes was hot, and the guy from King of Queens was outrageously funny.
