I'm watching it tonight! I'm hitting up the theater around 8 to start waiting for the midnight screening. No costumes and no, I don't have anything better to do...
I thought the movie stayed pretty loyal to the book. Overall it was kinda slow but it's building up for part 2.
Yup. It was alright. It definitely was a lead up to the 2nd part with no real action happening in this part. Not sure it was worth going to the midnight showing. Especially when the crowd gasps and claps at everything. God damn, you have probably read the freaking book if you're at the midnight showing. Please STFU.
I didn't like how they cut/altered some scenes in the movie compared to the novel. I felt they didn't do enough to build the tensions between Voldemort & Harry, and also Severus & Harry. Spoiler I mean the guy did kill his mentor in the last movie and you really went the whole movie without having Harry&co. talking about him or even mentioning him. His lack of scene time was lame as well. I thought the intro/beginning was great, it sort of teetered off after that, and it ended on the scene that I predicted. I didn't really hate the ending; however, it could have been done better. The last scene with Harry&Co. was a bit awkward and seemed forced. Overall, it was a really good movie. And the scene where Radcliffe molested Emma mouth was delightful. Definitely had the crowd going.
Meh, I was disappointed. I feel I've become too old for these movies, what with their corny/forced romances or the predominately under-21 crowd I was surrounded by at tonight's show applauding or giggling at every scene with a hint of sexuality in it. It's been ages since I read the Philosopher's Stone. Besides the first two movies, every film has failed to capture the magic of the books. They seem too edited, and many great minor characters like McGonagall and Snape have been forgotten. Movies can be faithful to the book and still be great on their own like LOTR and Master and Commander.
I saw it today.... a little disappointed. I guess because it's the first half of the last series. Oh well... still gonna go watch the last one in July. Btw Hermione looks even prettier in this one. Spoiler How many more deaths are there gonna be? So far it's Mr. Mad Eye, Owl, Mr. Elf. I heard one of the Weasley twins is gonna die. They're just getting rid of all the good guys in this one, Revenge Of The Sith style.
I quite liked it. Didn't think it was slow at all. In fact, I thought it had more action than any entry in the series thus far. And I thought Rupert Grint's performance was a real stand-out. Yeah, they changed an element or two from the book, but overall, it was pretty faithful.
Spoiler Yea, they're going to be a ton of major characters going bye bye. I will say, the major deaths are going to be pretty important to the story unlike ROTS were all the Jedi were just taken out in 2 minutes.
The Houston Chronicle just gave it 2.5 out of 4 stars... The chronicle usually likes crapfest movies and am surprise at the low score of such a high caliber of a movie?? http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ent/movies/mobile/7301336.html
Saw it in Imax at the Marq*e at Midnight (long ****ing line. Got there at 7pm) and I thought It was ok. The Spoiler death of Doby hurt just about the same as it did when I first read the book. I was a bit disappointed in the last 15 minutes of the film. Spoiler They took so much out and went soo fast It couldn't build up to a very important scene. I'd say I'd have to see both films together to really call this one a dud.
Spoiler A TON more deaths. I would say close to 20 known/named characters that you have encountered throughout the books die in this last one
I don't have too great of expectations of this movie. The last one really got my hopes up with the rave reviews, but I thought it was one of the worst of the series (5th one was far and away the best imo). I will definitely see it but just because I love the books and want to see the story retold.
Saw it last night... in plush seats.. with a server! best way to watch a movie now-a-days. I enjoyed it, though since it's the beginning of the book... it felt like the beginning of the book. There were some good special effects scenes and a couple of good make you jump in your seat moments too...which helped break up monotony of the slow storytelling.
I like the idea of the movies, but have been getting kind of bored with them. I love the idea of a huge movie with great visuals that's an exciting and suspenseful fantasy. There isn't really anything else out there that fits that bill. That being said, the last two movies have kind of bored me. I'm not excited about seeing the movie, but I am excited about the idea of it. I don't know if I'll actually see it or not.
It made $24 million for midnight showings, a little short of the record holder Twilight. I guess it was a school night and this summer the last Potter film should destroy the Twilight record. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/harry-potter-deathly-hallows-part-47513
Spoiler That's what makes these^^ so special. I wish I could go back to 2003 or whatever and feel the excitement of going to see the next installment
