I haven't seen any of Men in Black, and I've seen maybe 5 minutes of Independence Day. I'm just not a fan of that type of movie.
Heard that the first 45 min of the movie is awesome, but that the rest of the movie sucked because it seemed that they didn't know what to do with the movie. Story doesn't fit. Begining is funny, but they stray away from the failed hero concept to a good guy vs bad "super" guy. Like a spiderman movie etc. Good vs evil. I'll still watch it, but it's certainly getting VERY bad reviews.
Wait, doesn't Travers like EVERY movie? IMO, although I have no proof to back up my claim, Travers seems like the perfect example of a reviewer "for sale". This random blog entry sums up my feelings for Peter Travers:
I heard it needed to have a lot of work done to make it from rated R to PG13. I wonder if that had any bearing to the slow development? It was supposedly planned to screen before I am Legend.
who's the genius that came up with the title "Hancock"..... "hey what would be a good title? What would make people want to see this movie" "oh i know........how about.......HANCOCK!"
really? I thought it was somewhat intentional, like most movies with Will Smith in them. Its kind of his style. That's what i like about him, he's like a combo. If he doesn't get you with the action, maybe he'll get you with the goofiness, or the crocodile tears. I guess i enjoy the instant gratification. I will say one thing, if anyone doesn't like a specific Will Smith movie then you won't like any other one. He always puts himself into the movie, which is bad acting, but he's always entertaining.
I thought the trailers for this film were great and it was one of the movies that I was really looking forward to this summer. Just the tought of an alcoholic super hero is gold in my book.
Just got back from seeing this. Not phenomenal by any means, but entertaining. I'm not sure it's worth going to an evening show, but if you get some kind of discount or want to wait for the video, it's worth a watch. On the Shyamalan Scale*, I'd rate it a solid The Village. Can anyone else who has seen the movie tell me what the significance of the Sanford & Son music was? *Shyamalan Scale: (Good to bad in descending order) The Sixth Sense Unbreakable Signs The Village Lady in the Water The Happening
Are we talking about the same person? Here are his latest reviews. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/author/author-2726/ Some of the recent big movies that he's blasted include The Love Guru (.5/4), You Don't Mess With Zohan (2/4), Indiana Jones (2.5/4), Narnia (2.5/4), Incredible Hulk (2.5/4). If he was for sale you would think those would all get good reviews. Tell me which one of his movies you didn't agree with then? I haven't seen Hancock but that's really the only one that he gave a good review when most others blasted it. And regarding that blog entry, I'm not even sure what that is. Are you purporting that to be his blog?
Tonight He Comes.. & Hancock.. Hmm.. Sounds like this movie's gonna have some serious secks scenes. Anyways, I'll be watching this when it comes out here. Can't wait till Hancock joins the Avengers in 2012!
