Every scene with somebody outside looks like they're infront of a greenscreen and it's obvious. The music feels out of place too
Guillermo Del Toro didnt direct this. Steven S DeKnight, the guy who directed Spartacus and the 1st season of Daredevil is responsible for this one. Sadly, It looks and feels like a Power Rangers episode.
Looks like fun, but it does definitely seem to be missing a certain grittiness that the first had. I think it's the constant daytime scenes. Feels too clean. Del Toro may have the right idea going with largely night and rainy sets.
What I don't understand is.... are they "war ready" ? I mean, I know that the music said "war ready" about a hundred times, but I really think the music should said it a couple hundred times more in order to truly emphasize that they are "war ready". Kinda like how this Mouontain Dew commercial emphasized that he's "all the way up".
Sequel seems like it misses what it was about the 1st movie that made it so good. Independence Day 2 is a great comparison.
Finally watched this over the holiday. I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. I expected to dislike it based on the trailers. Story twists were better than I expected although the 'final battle' was a little flat.
