can’t wait for this...I hope I’m not disappointed I’m interested in seeing how Kong does, because tbh, I’ve always expected Godzilla to give Kong an easy case of the beats

They both look hella old actually, and I should know. Wish we could have had this match at their prime. This is like pitting Bill Russell versus Bill Walton... today. Who would do that?
What is up with these new age reviewers that every movie has to say something? Nothing is congruent about a giant monster movie and trying too appeal to the deep thinkers are ruining these movies with all the exposition. There is a space to have just blow **** up movies. ****ing hipsters and millennials. I will agree they need to cut back on the character development in these films.
Kong punches Godzilla in the head leaving his big ass all wobbly, but then Zilla burps out some radioactive breath in Kong’s eyes causing him to retreat...then they go back to their corners to get ready for round 2 Reeko judges round 1 10-9 Kong
20 minutes in, very not impressed at all thus far. Too may characters and plots force fed at once. Very stilted dialog and tons of ridiculous exposition.
This ain't Wonder Woman 1984 bad, but pretty bad. It's fun dumb action, but that's about it. Lower expectations and enjoy.
I'm not sure WW84 was worse. It was stupid as hell but followed a coherent narriative. It seems to me like they CGI'd a bunch of expensive fight scenes, realized they forgot to write a story, and hired the AI that wrote bad pick up lines to tie everything together. Trying to follow the story makes me feel like I've just consumed a massive dose of ketamine. They'd have been better off just eliminating characters and dialog, and just doing a couple of hours of random cgi monster fights in random locations under random conditions. Lean into your strengths.
Movie theatre was a cluster****, projector kept dying and freezing. At the 45 minute mark of sitting there we just went home to watch. Got a refund on tickets and concessions and got free passes. When we got home we ffwd to the part we were at in the movie and it was 12 minutes in. Anyway, I really enjoyed it. There are some plot points that they don’t show in the trailers that are really cool. The dialogue and pacing for the people was admittedly pretty mediocre at best. I think they cut a lot of time for plot direction, which was a good move, because I’d rather have monster beat downs. There were a lot of ‘helping’ lines for dumb viewers who couldn’t make intuitive leaps. There were characters doing things and you think, wait, what, why did they do that, that’s not their speciality. I would describe the human plot pacing and dialogue like going on a date with a p*rn star. You know that the conversation is going to be dumb and superficial but when you get home it’s fireworks and you remember why you splurged on steak at Chili’s for this dumb broad. @Ottomaton plot made sense and was better than ww84. I can break it down if you guys want. I enjoyed the ‘meddling kids’ plotline with Millie Bobby Brown. AOC did a great job as the meddling corporate douchebag. Watching at home was good because I could turn on closed captioning to understand the actors with thick accents. Fights were awesome. If you aren’t there for that then you really shouldn’t be watching. Overall, better than any Transformers movie, better than Rampage, better than the second Pacific Rim. I hope they make another sequel. And one of them absolutely wins.
