Here's a gripe: Not really a spoiler, but.... Spoiler They made Duke a captain when he was the Joe 1st sergeant. And in a flashback Duke was wearing major's rank insignia. Major outranks captain. Stuff like this bothers me more than anything as it's pretty easy to be consistent with military stuff. IOW, if you can't get that right, then I worry about your movie. But I still enjoyed the movie for what it was.
Joseph Gordon Levitt was awesome in the movie. Rumor has it, that he will be the next joker because A) he can act and B) he looks just like Heath Ledger. Also next year Christopher Nolan is a making a HUGE movie called Inception: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1375666/board/threads/ $200 million dollar+ budget? Awesome cast? Watch out this movie will own next year. Oh yeah Joseph Gordon Levitt rising star. Finally he is getting noticed.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. All I was expecting was a fun movie. I didn't even get that. Not much to like here. Even the Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes confrontations felt a little fake and unmoving. Channin Tatum was at least somewhat believable as a soldier. Marlon Wayans and Joseph Gordon Levitt...not in the least bit. The CGI was downright bad in some places. Dennis Quaid...bad and miscast. Did the filmmakers not watch the end of Revenge of the Sith or something? History repeats itself. What's with the cheesy ray-gun sound effects for the Cobras' weapons. Are we watching a 1950's sci-fi? Hated the vehicle designs. I could go on but what's the point.
Horrible, horrible, horrible acting lmao. Luckily though it was $6 at tinseltown, but damn they could throw in at least a LITTLE bit of acting to spice up urinating on the graves of all physicists ever .
sometimes i think i can act better than some of these guys....especially better than the guy who played anakin skywalker
I though JGL did pretty good in the movie. He didn't have the Christian Bale Dark Knight voice so thats a plus and he played Cobra Commander/Doctor pretty good. Everyone else was terrible. The CGI was indeed horrific at times (the polar bear, flying through Egypt etc..) Overall just a mindless action summer film.
Every time I see a bunch of anonymous people on a BBS talking about 'acting' like they know the first thing about it, or would really know the difference between good and bad acting, it makes me laugh. I know there are some people on CF that know the acting biz, and I do as well; have been acting onstage for over 25 years, in fact it's what I got my degree in. There nothing wrong with the acting in the movie, apart from the end when the young guy playing 'Commander' took off his little mask. Ok THAT was not good. I don't know what he was doing there, but you people need to understand that an actor's job is to do what the director tells him to do. Don't confuse odd or bad casting with bad acting. You want to see actual bad acting, probably in spite of the best efforts of the director, then look no further than Malin Akerman in Watchmen - all I can say is that girl must have some serious extra-curricular skills, because acting is not one of them.
Channing Tatum is a horrendous actor and always has been. Doesn't take an industry vet to figure that out.
That's just George Lucas. He makes even the best actors terrible. Ewen McGregor, Liam Neeson, and Natalie Portman are all great actors and they were barely watchable in the star wars flicks.
Bad acting, bad casting. It's irrelevant. The actors in my opinion weren't that bad of a litter, respectively. However, the dialogue and the way the actions were carried out were awful, lol.
Seriously. It's one thing to say you could do a better job. It's entirely different to simply criticize a performance.
