It's like some idiot producer said 'Hey, Halo is a popular video game. Let's make them wear Halo suits and kick it up a notch.'

It looks absolutely awful, but the nostalgic 8 year old in me will watch it, just like that POS Transformers 1 & 2.

That's like rationalizing street fighter was a decent movie because it was based off a video game.

Certainly it could still end up being terrible. I just meant to set your expectations appropriately.

    exactly.

It is a story about bickering alien robots. It's meant to be fun, not to have deep, intimate plots, it is made for children.

This is not true and to say that means you didn't watch Transformers growing up and/or you weren't a very "deep" child/haven't rewatched them. They absolutely dealt with deep, intimate plots.

no, I never watched Transformers growing up, I would love to hear an example of their intimate plots that were so great. Looked like a normal kids show to me.

It was the original animated movie, and not the TV cartoon, but Transformers dealt with death: Optimus and all of the Autobots were slaughtered, as were most of the Decepticons. I was in 2nd or 3rd grade at the time and I remember a lot of kids crying and a lot of angry parents as a result.

And Spike said "s**t" and Ultra Magnus said "dammit." Sure it was a movie, but it was a movie over the exact same subject matter and characters.

I'm not exactly defending his point here, just pointing out the above. That movie was pretty heavy in those regards and I'd call the 'death of Optimus Prime' one of those "holy crap" childhood moments of mine right up there with Vader being Luke's father.

The rumors I heard were that the early screenings scored the LOWEST scores ever for Paramount.. and that Sommers was actually fired and locked out of the editting room. if true.. or even halfway true.. i wouldn't think this would be too good for the movie.

that's okay.. Paramount already scored big with transformers and star trek for the summer.
