i agree, and i enjoyed transformers. it is one of those movies you see once for the stunts and spectacle, and then move on. this will be no different. these movies, for me, don't have a high rewatchable rate.

the spiderman/x-men movies have a slightly higher rewatch value. where as this will sit alongside other greats such as pearl harbor, the island, and the matrix sequels.

Just wait until someone do Dragon Ball Z....it is going to be the most underwhelming two hour mess in the history of cinema.

Cartoons just don't translate well to film, while films (and video games) don't translate well into TV Series or movies.....how hard is that to understand.

The cast is horrible.... why do Hollywood producers like to use former teen stars to play heavyweight superheroes and cartoon characters.

Yup...it's only a matter of time before Hollywood gets ahold of these bad boys:

You won't have to wait long. It is scheduled for release next year.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Mid 20's to mid 30's sound better?

Sure. I forget that I am pushing 40 sometimes.

My bother is 25 and is the perfect Transformers kid. I don't think of Transformers as GenX material. GenX cartoons are '70s. imo

The main problem is producers trying to establish franchises instead of making good movies.

Someday they'll luck out on a director with a good understanding of kids like truffaut and can direct action like james cameron.

Whatever happens in this GI Joe movie, I hope they have a public service announcement during the ending credits.

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XVRBBy65IYQ&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XVRBBy65IYQ&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

except they should update it to suite today.

two people about to get busy,
GI Joe: "Hold on now, don't agree to sexy-time without securing the copyright on the tape first."
Paris Hilton enters: "Yeah, since you're building a reputation, might as well make some money while doing it."
dude: "how the **** did everybody get in here?"
girl: "oh man, now I know."
    dude: "WTF, GTF OUT!"
Paris + Joe: "And knowing is half the battle!" (smile, thumbs up).
dude: "F this ****." (gets up and leaves).

Kinda could figure as soon as the 80's cartoon enthusiasts got old enough to have influence in Hollywood they'd push for some of these ideas.

Only difference between this and all the movies with the Marvel and DC comic characters is kids in the 80's were too lazy to read comics. So they'll turn to the cartoons they watched instead.

Pretty hard since it seems like you just said films don't translate well into films. :p

But I get what you're saying and it usually is a pretty proven rule. But I think it all comes down to getting the right people. Transformers most definitely was a success whether you liked it or not...I doubt you would find a more suitable director/producer for the type of material it was than Bay/Bruckheimer. And Silent Hill was halfway decent as well. And I did have faith in Halo with Jackson on board before it got shelved (guess we'll never know how it would have turned out, sadly).

I agree with the poster who mentioned the Thundercats movie.

    Make it so.

Also, make it blatantly campy. If they don't poke fun at themselves then it'll be the most homosexual movie in the world.
