I read that Appatow said Randy started very small, but they fell in love with the character and couldn't stop writing jokes for him and that's why they did all this extra viral stuff with him and want to maybe do a Randy movie.
I thought it was a completely watchable film, especially in the middle of cartoon season: pretty much what I expected plot-wise; allowed Sandler, Apatow and Rogen to show some dramatic range, gave Bana a nice semi-comedic role, and gave Leslie Mann just a little bit more career traction. I'll always tolerate Schwartzman because Huckabee's is probably my favorite non-QT comedy of all time, and I think Goldberg does his rambling, sarcastic, quasi-improvised schtick well. Unfortunately, not good enough to matter critically, and certainly not built to make any money or stay around a long time.
Very long...don't remember a longer comdey film but I guess it was more of a dramedy! The best seen was...SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! The Ray Romano-Eminem resturant seen...my only complain was that it got pretty darn depressing through the middle of the flick I acutally felt crummy for Sandler!
In typical Apatow fashion, a movie with balls, heart, and ****ing hilarious moments. and a lot of dick jokes. I liked it. Knocked up is still my favorite, and then 40 YOV, but this is a solid addition. Seth Rogen is awesome.
A comedian with his own DJ? Awesome! ...Was in the movie for at most a minute. NSFW: Spoiler RAAAAAAAANDY's website Yes, they made a website for a character who has a minute onscreen. Stay home, and watch the Comedy Central movie special (it actually had RAAAAAAAANDY in it) that featured all the comdians'/actors' stand-up acts, then rent Punch-Drunk Love if you still need some Sandler dramatic acting. Rumor is, though, that RAAAAAAAANDY is Apatow's next film subject. Onion AV Club: Apatow interview
The film was alright. It prove to me one thing though. Adam is hang it up and call it a career, cause he's lost his mojo, ever since the waterboy.
I was thinking that maybe Adam Sandler does have some sort of illness in real life and this film was a way of telling his story or something. He doesn't really look very good, maybe he's just aging, who knows.
Nsfw. and kind of a spoiler i guess. Spoiler <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OYrCaoyQRh4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OYrCaoyQRh4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
u seriously thought that was one of his best? I admit, I liked it when I was a sophmore in HS, but looking back, that was dumbass movie... but oddly enough I still think Happy Gilmore is my Top 5 Comedies of all time DUDE at least put a spoiler tag, there's a reason why I added one....
Why would he hang it up when EVERY movie he does is an instant box office success? That would just be a dumb business decision. I actually think he has gotten a little better in the past few years. Nothing will be Happy Gilmore good, but some of his stuff in the middle of his career was much worse (Little Nicky, 8 Crazy Nights)
It's a dramedy and not a comedy. Like a chick flick for dudes. More Lol than LMFAO moments. Four stars.
loved it, thought it was the best apatow yet. Thought apatow and sandler both handled the more serious subjects in this movie very well.
Long, very long. Thats what she said. Would I go see it again? No. Would I rent it? No. Did it make me laugh a few times in the first thirty minutes? Yes. If it were on TV and I had nothing going on, would I watch it? No. The only thing I took away from it, was a situation happened that I could relate to. Other than that, I wish I held out and watched Moon.
Me and my friends loved the movie. Maybe because were into that type of humor we mostly joke around like that with all our friends. Then again were the only people laughing our d**** off (Raaaaaaaandy reference lol) for most of the movie.
I liked it. I expected it to be different from Apatow's other films so wasn't disappointment. The jokes were hilarious.
It was good until they had the awkward serious moments later on in the movie. Seems like stuff like that doesn't really come naturally to Apatow.
Call it a spoiler then fail to put spoiler tags on it. Pure genius. And I haven't seen the movie but that clip was so unfunny to me I can't believe it was in an Apatow movie. Seriously, if that's even on the "funny radar" for that movie, then I see no point in watching it.
