Everyone's situation is different, but I usually agree. We decided to buy it for $30 because after two tickets, a babysitter, drinks at Alamo, etc. it would've been more expensive to see it once and deal with annoying people in the theater.
Wait...so they had a lot of Christopher Walken dialogue in the trailers but he was hardly in the film? We can sue for refunds over that!
I enjoyed it. Thought it was equally as good as the first one. Has a lot of depth to it, so it's a good re-watch. Seen it four times now.
It was a really good movie, not great though. Thoroughly enjoyed it but don't get the all time hype for it.
Yup Walken walked the walk and his talken talked the talk. Underused greatly tho A good blockbuster Sci Fi movie is rare. Esp one that doesn't rip off star wars tropes and was faithful to a book that's hard to adapt
The word "trope" is the most tiresome lame ripped-off word in the whole "movie talking guy" dictionary. "Zeitgeist" is 2nd.
If it describes marvel movies or star wars movies easily then I'm using it. I treat it the same as meme I'm all ears if you have other cool alternatives
I liked the movie overall but wasn’t that much impressed with Christopher Walken. He played exactly as you expect Christopher Walken but as such I think lacked the gravitas for the role of Emperor of the Galaxy.
Just finished Dune II after re-watching Dune (because I forgot the entire plot). It was very good but not great. The production was top notch. By the time Dune III comes out in 4-5 years, I won't care anymore.
I've now watched Dune Part II many times and I recently re-watched Dune Part I. I gotta say that I like Dune Part II better, which says a lot, because I liked Part I very much. Part II is an excellent re-watch. There are many things in it that are easy to miss the first few times of watching. There is tremendous depth to the story development, characters, and dialogue. Very, very well made movie.
I'm excited that Villeneuve has both critical and commercial hit. Box office could've soured like Blade Runner 2049, so maybe it was a good thing they streamed the first one during covid? The first movie had a hard job setting things up that both satisfies book readers and not leave movie goers in the dark. I saw a review gushing over Rebecca Ferguson's role in the first one because even though the Bennet Geserit should act stoic and disciplined, she showed enough inner struggle over what was happening to her family. That went away in the second one since she more or less had to act with two people in mind. Villeneuve makes beautiful and poignant movies, so I guess he'd be great if he can consistently figure out how to keep the audience's attention until the end. Even the second movie felt like 2 movies glued together, but the material is so dense that there weren't many spots for better editing.
They’re both essentially 1 movie imo, it feels like they cleaved 1 piece into 2 the first establishing characters and the next action
