    This is the thing
    but
I hear there is a series coming

    https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/dune-tv-series-hbo-max-showrunner-diane-ademu-john-1235024854/

"et in the universe of Frank Herbert’s epic “Dune” novel series, “Dune: The Sisterhood” is told through the eyes of a mysterious order of women known as the Bene Gesserit. Given extraordinary abilities by their mastery of the body and the mind, the Bene Gesserit expertly weave through the feudal politics and intrigue of The Imperium, pursuing plans of their own that will ultimately lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis, known to its inhabitants as Dune. It will serve as a prequel to the films."

This won't go over well with the testosterone crowd

PRETTY strange? The story gets freaking weird and stretches far into the timeline. Yeah I also doubt it.

Like The Expanse, that show is ending before it gets beyond the original characters.

Can they film 2? It's the same story as the original. Even Frank Herbert admitted to that.

3 is like Return of the Jedi, ie a set up for 4. 4 is the one I want to see on the big screen the most. It is the easiest one to make for today's market. It's T2 where the John & Sarah Connor characters are written into a single female protagonist..

5 a series reboot. I don't think 5 or the last book Chapterhouse works as part of a movie series.

    Great song! Holds up well.

It was hard to find a club in Houston back then with an electronica scene. There was a place off Richmond called Tantra that was after hours that had great EDM. I partied with Fem2Fem there one night. Very hazy memory...

    Who is especially pretty then?

I might give you that ( to each his own) but she is exceptionally sexy and very pretty IMO in a natural way.

    Watched it last night.

    Solid performance by Francesca Annis.

    Not impressed by the graphics.

Really enjoyed it. The themes are pretty hard to transfer from the pages to the screen but I thought they did it well.

Wish they discussed the mentats more.

    Moobies?!

The movie didn’t really go into the lack of computers and the fact that Mentats are human computers.

The guys with weird lipstick that roll their eyes back in their heads are mentats. It wasn't at all explained, but they are essentially the human replacement for computers.

Edit: There is significant lore that isn't discussed, but appears in the movie. Shields and lasers not mixing well (the reason no one was using lasers in the attack against the Atreides), the Imperial conditioning mark of doctor Yueh and how it was subverted, why the sandworms don't attack the city, what Spice is used for, etc.

Weird guy that prefers the Lynch version over here, haha.

Give Lynch a bigger budget and full control and he wrecks shop with Dune.

I actually thought the SciFi miniseries did a decent job with 6-7 hours of runtime. Hopefully with part 2 DV can match that on a worldbuilding level. He has already far surpassed it on a visual level (as should be expected, though I don't think I prefer the blue/red shields). I also thought his hunter/seeker was the weakest of the three adaptations.
I cannot agree. Both the SciFi and the DV version were better than the Lynch version. Lynch really did the worst job adapting the source material of the three attempts, IMO.
