i guess i'm suppose to ignore it, since it's all part of the persona. Either way, it was something different to see.
I saw this movie last night, my fists were clenched the whole time. Such a unique soundtrack and Ryan Gosling switching from a nice sweet guy to hammer wielding bad ass was really fun to watch. It was such a good movie. Here are some of my thoughts on it: Spoiler In an interview with the director, he says that his intent for the ending was not to be ambiguous but in fact Driver's wound was not fatal and he lives to drive off for another adventure. Carey Mulligan's character going to knock on his door at the end I think shows that she really did care for him but he knew he had to leave and start over in order for her and her son to be safe Driver was so calculated throughout the movie, but why did he turn his back when getting the bag of money in the trunk at the end? I would've told the guy to stand back like 50 ft while I get the duffel bag. I think he was prepared to die in order for her to be safe, but the wound wasn't fatal. One of my favorite parts was when Driver was at the diner the guy comes up to him trying to talk about an old heist. Driver's demeanor switches and he tells him to "shut the ***** up before I kick your teeth into your mouth and make you swallow them". From then on, you knew he had another dimension to his character. Great movie!
Besides the awesome 80's soundtrack did anybody else notice the Social Network music during the heist?
The soundtrack is good. The score was done by Cliff Martinez who used to be a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He is one of my favorite composers.
Spoiler I have a few of the songs off the soundtrack. That Nightcall song is jammin'. I didn't include the Cliff songs because they're all instrumentals. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12103801/DRV_SNDTRK.zip

Just watched this on Netflix streaming. A masterpiece IMO. I guess I can understand why some might not like it,but only artistically. If you didn't likeit because you think Fast and Furious or Transporter is high quality filmmaking the you're wrong. They are solid mindless entertainment... Drive is film elevated.... to art. Fantastic acting, great style, amazing soundtrack and just enough plot.
