That's what you think is 'too cute?' All kinds of crazy stuff can happen with war/explosions/big-ass monsters. Not knocking you....but I was able to suspend my disbelief with no trouble at all. I'd also like to see it again.
I really hate the viral marketing and the hype they tried to create just like the Blair B!tch project (and it sucked), so imma gonna spoil as much as I can, muhahahaha Spoiler It's a crab monster, and not original at ALL as JJ Abrahm promised, looks like king Kong has raped a female godzilla. It launches off smaller versions of itself which if they bite you, you kinda get impregnated by it and thats how people explode. The guy's brother dies on the Brookyln Bridge from the tail. The brown hair chick dies from asploding. The chopper crashes as their getting away. They look up and Hudd (camera guy) gets chomped by the clovercrab. And then the last 2 kinda go all romantic and then are blown up. They don't tell you where this crab comes from and why and nobody know if it killed at the end or not, so wait for clovercrap II
Yeah it was kinda short, but very fulfilling. I think the movie was done very well considering the budget, and the monster was pretty horrific. It seemed less far-fetched as all the other monster movies that are out there. The scene in the tunnel is memorable....
my wife wants to see this movie but i wasnt in favor of it... that being said, we will probably go see at some point fyi, when i cook, i wear an apron with "whipped" across the front.
Yeah, I realized that when I tried to look up showtimes. I haven't been out to a movie in awhile. So I went to a Lowe's on 59 between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford. 1. I never got close to getting sick. I think there were plenty of times when to camera was still (or still enough) to not get sick. I think the fact that they probably used an actual movie camera (unlike Blair Witch) helped a lot. 2. I saw it. I don't know was I was supposed to get out of that. Cleavage? 3. I saw/heard that too. Problem is, I couldn't understand it. There was radio static and a voice but I have absolutely no clue what it said. Can somebody else who has seen it please fill me in. On to my brief review. Knowing the way the film was layed out, I didn't expect them to give the origins of the monster. Where would they have fit that in? Also, judging by the text at the beginning, I pretty much expected it to end the way that it did. Actually, I thought it could have ended twice before it actually did but I knew it was going to be something like that. I knew it wasn't going to be wrapped up in a neat little package. Oh, and I thought that there were enough clear shots of the monster to be satisfied. At least 4 or 5 real good full body type ones. It's not like you're seeing a snippet here and there but in the end you're still wondering exactly what it looks like. My one gripe: So, the guys cell phone battery dies but the video camera keeps ticking for about 7+ hours? Yeah, right.
All the "viral marketing" stuff is merely background and lead-up information. "Prequel material," if you will. Pretty smart, actually...
So... then.. the slusho site and the primary web site (the one with the photos on it)... they just had bunch of useless garbage on them? That's crappy.
this all sounds like a mix of blair witch with Jeepers Creepers.. Blair Witch: the style, the sequencing, the approach, the hype. Jeepers Creepers: the moments few and far inbetween that leave an impression, followed by mostly "meh" moments, lack of explanation, and the sudden disappointing ending.
Really liked the movie, just came back from it. There were moments that I felt like I was there. I dunno about watching it again immediately like I would other movies, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it, but was left wanting more. (as expected) There were enough still shots of the monster to be satisfied, but not enough of Beth and Lily.
I thought it was great. The Blair Witch approach was perfect because you never really knew what was going on. Loved the concept.
Just wiki'd this and it blew my mind that I missed this...possibly explaining the origins of the monster... Spoiler The movie then cuts to a scene from Rob and Beth enjoying their Coney Island date a month before. The lovers turn the camera towards the fairgrounds and the pier, and an object can be seen crashing into the sea on the right-hand horizon. The camera is turned back to Rob and Beth, still happy and carefree. Rob asks Beth to comment on her experience. Beth ends the film by saying, "I had a good day." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield
