I thought it was really good, I think maybe some here had too high expectations (the book was great, but then again it was the shortest of all of them wasn't it?)

I agree it may have been a little too "Disney" and cutesy at times, but they stayed pretty much true to the storyline. The dialogue between the beavers was kind of the comic relief, but then again how many times did you split a gut during LOTR?

Overall it was good, this is the beginning though, the stories get a lot better after this, I hope the sequels are even better.

    ***SPOILER****

As for the Religious symbolism, it is definitley there, and it goes pretty deep too if you look at it, I hadn't read the book since I was younger so I saw a lot more of it now. For instance, only the girls are there to see Aslans' death and the resurrection is a symbol of Jesus' mother and the women being pretty much the only ones there for the same event, little things like that. Certainly nothing that should throw the atheists into a panic for their damned souls.

Oh and Crisco's ancestors obviously thought Shakespeare sucked. :p

Mrs. Giddyup up and I took Zoe (6) and Ali (4) to see this movie this afternoon. It was our best family movie experience ever. The girls attention was kept (a little fright along the way) and we adults enjoyed it immensely.

Mrs. G is reading the book as well. I didn't particularly want to go but was completely engaged by the story and the fantasy.

I recently bought the big book that contains all the stories. I read the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe but haven't seen the film yet. I'll wait till it's on DVD. I'm not a movie theater buff.
