I really liked the movie. I think it was better than the orginal but not better than the book. Some miinor changes and add-ins in the new one, but hey, what do you expect. I"ll buy the dvd when it comes out.

Thought the movie was 'meh'. Ending scenes/battles were solid, but other than that it felt like Lord Of The Rings Lite. Too sappy in some parts, plot doesn't really flow well, and there were far too few 'epic' moments in a movie that seems to be really trying to reach for them.

Overall, a disappointment. I'm hoping King Kong is a better time.

I was disapointed as well, can't put my finger on exactly what it is though. I think if I would have seen it when I was like 10 I would have really liked it but after watching huge battle scenes in epics like LOTR, Star Wars, etc. it just doesn't impress.

Take your kids to see it...they might like it.

It is a movie that has Christian themes. It is fiction so in that sense it is not Christian.

    Exactly
It is so funny. . . Christians complained about Harry Potter
the Atheist says they are crackpots
now this movie comes out . . . and the Atheist are complaining
and the Christians think they are crackpots

    Isn't that insane?

Yes, this back and forth is very stupid. It's gonna keep going with Munich by Spielberg.

Great movie..I wonder how close this was to being rated PG-13...

...anyways, as I was watching the movie, some kid kept kicking the back of my seat. It was no more annoying than the previous 500 times it's happened, so I didn't pay much attention to it. The weird part was that his mom was actually telling him to stop, which I've never seen before. Usually, parents let their kids get away with murder in movie theaters. Eventually, the kid started whining when she told him to stop, and she finally took him out of the theater and didn't come back. It's good to know that there are parents around today that can still dicipline their kids...

Good but not great movie. Loved the themes and messages it has, however the pace was too slow for my taste. The book's pace itself is generally slow anyway, but the trailers they were showing made it see they would turn it up a few notches in the pacing department.

Well, the kids fled from a war torn city, discovered a magic land, escaped the clutches of the evil witch, and fought a war in a little over two hours...how much faster paced do you have to get? :D

The little girl was adorable. I thought there were times it felt very Disney. You could kinda see the green screen outlines on the characters in a few places.

But, it was very true to the book (minus the opening bombing sequence), which I loved. It was very reminicent of Harry Potter stuff - fun for kids and adults.

My only thought was that it wasn't as funny as the book could be in places. I didn't really find myself even chuckling in places that were just built for a good zinger. But, it was a fun trip to the theatre.

I have that cartoon version of L/W/W from way back when. I showed it to my 4 and 5 year old even before it came out in teaser trailers. They were pumped to see the movie, and I have already gotten them the Narjna GBA games. From what I can remember, the story line was just like the cartoon, so I'm assuming the cartoon was a good translation of the books as well.

I was mildly disappointed. They did a fairly good job, but I feel it was somehow a bit pedestrian. It may be the Disney effect, but I felt it was caught between 2 target age groups: one for whom you can show battles and killing and ritual killings, and one that wants to see huggable little animals. Being in the former group, I thought it should have been a little grittier. Not that I need to see blood spraying everywhere, but they seem to be going to some trouble to avoid scaring anyone. In particular, I was annoyed that Aslan never looks scary, and sometimes he's downright comical (watching an animal talking can get a bit ridiculous). Aslan is supposed to scare the bejezus out of everyone. I think they cut a "tame lion" conversation out somewhere that should have really been in there (and not at the end).

The actress playing the White Witch did a great job. Edmund's temptation was a little muddled though (not by the actors but the director). And, for the sake of movie-making, it seems they tried to put in a little more action than the book has, but I'll begrudgingly forgive them for that.

Thats part of it actualy. I didnt have any genuine laughs at all. And the beavers just seemed forced. bleh, out of the 3 movies (Potter and LOTR) this is the one I actually read MANY times before seeing the movie, so I guess my expectations were too high for it. There's so much potential, yet, I don't know, just cant put my finger on it. the best way I can describe this is that Narnia is the Yao Ming of movies. Yao's Chinese, I'm Chinese, Narnia's written by a Christian, I'm Christian, both had nice prehype, both got some nice highlights, but something just doesn't seem right at times. I wanted very much to like Narnia, and to declare Yao as a dominating superstar, but something's just off...
