Scarification is a big thing in African cultures. I think you’re confusing sociopath with psychopath. But I don’t think Killmonger was meant to be either. He was this angry killer with a massive chip on his shoulder and a goal. He just wasn’t well portrayed IMO. The idea of his character is cooler than the execution. But I respect other opinions admit that I’m a giant obsessive dork so it’s all gravy. Thor Ragnarok is great buecause of the seamless blend of amazing action/fights and light hearted humor. A lot of the story is about Thor taking himself too seriously and growing as a person. And back to the action- one of the most badass fighting ‘moves’ I’ve ever seen in a movie is the slo-mo long shot of Thor blazing with electricity while jumping into a crowd of zombie warriors on the bridge while Led Zepplin blazes in the background. Freaking awesome. This movie puts him in the ‘Superman’ level of heroes, and we see it in full force in Infintiy War when he takes the power of a sun at point blank to forge his new weapon, then his entrance to the Wakanada scene where he just mows down the opposing army that the rest of the Avengers are struggling to fight.
Dude, the Immigrant Song is so ****ing perfect. "I come from the land of the ice and snow...." Are you ******** me? Zeppelin screaming about Vikings? That and Korg made that the one of the funnest Marvel movies for me. GotG too.
I thought the same about Hela. Goddess of death was not intimidating at all. Fenrir was kinda just beat up by Hulk? silly. I thought the campy bit sort of made the movie but also took away from obviously more serious undertones. And then yeah, powered up Thor was great but he was no match for Hela? So you know, unleash the monster Thor beat up before his power up lol...okaaaay. I mean they didn’t really finish her.
She has a bad attitude in general. She exudes entitlement and indignation. Hate to say it, but your mistake was to try and get anywhere near that.
Actors and actresses dont owe you anything. It's a business arrangement. U pay; they entertain. Shes right not to take pictures with crazy strangers
I’m big on Thor Rags...I thought that movie and Ironman were the two best Marvel movies made so far. I’ve seen both well over 20 times easily. Funny, good fight scenes...not taking themselves too seriously. Great entertainment...
Robert Downey was the fun ******* in Ironman before he turned into just ******* Ironman in about everything else. I really did like Guardians of the Galaxy too, I had absolutely no idea who they were or what was going to happen.
I think Hela is getting her power from Asgard, an entire planet (floating rock continent, whatever). They go into why she's so powerful. Yeah, Thor's power is a little inconsistent here, I guess that's to built up to the end. Would have been nice to Hela's 'powers' were more than just manifesting infinite swords. Now that I think about it the entire of the Asgardian race was really gentrified in this movie- they're supposed to be gods of the Vikings. Oh well. Hulk beating Fenrir isn't a shock, though, he's Hulk. But then he gets b****-slapped by Thanos. I think they are going to resolve his pussification in Endgame as well. A lot of theories are Professor Hulk (spoiler if you want to look it up).
I don't think that there was any "pussification" of the Hulk. The beginning of Infinity War just showed that Thanos was a next-level type of badass that the Avengers had not come across. I think that the Thanos/Hulk fight is not appreciated enough. It wasn't just a brawl. The Hulk was pure fury and physicality. Thanos' every move was a precision strike delivered with a speed for which the Hulk was not prepared. It was an ass-whomping of the highest order, and it was done perfectly. Ebony Maw's "Let him has his fun" was just the cherry on an ass-whomping sundae.
For hulk, I suppose not but fenrir in Norse mythology is important, I know it’s just kind of a source but they just use the myth as a punching bag for hulk. It makes hulk more badass to know why beating fenrir is so crazy. It wasn’t just that. The drunken Valkyrie? Played up for comedic effect instead of desperately lonely, unfulfilled in her duty, low bar bounty hunter. Hulk being hulk for 2 years straight? Played up for comedic effect instead of someone wallowing in anger. Loki, so formulaic it’s actually part of the script. Jeff goldblum (fk Jeff goldblum man /Pineapple Express) played up for comedic effect instead of you know...a sexual deviant dictator? Hilarious! I guess. They even throw in a gratuitous abs shot for the ladies (or you know, uh, MEN lol) I mean helmsworth is a beautiful man but whatever. Will look into prof. Hulk for sure. He, antman and dr strange are going to be big plot lines in endgame. Cap, Thor and iron man are too obvious
Hopefully Hulk gets some character growth where it isn't all smashy smashy. Who's looking forward to seeing a 10 yr rehashed formula where he comes in and does his thing at the last minute?
My personal list is very similar to Buck's, so won't post that. I will say that there were some movies I had high hopes and some I had none at all that surprised me. Surprised: Guardians of the Galaxy - literally knew nothing of them, or their connection to the MCU. VERY happy I decided on a whim to go see it in the theaters, the whole crowd loved the movie. Dr. Strange: Didn't care enough about the story arc to see it until out of the theaters. When I finally viewed it I kicked myself for not seeing it sooner, Cumberbatch should have been reason enough for me to know it would be good Captain America: Winter Soldier - I'm not too much a fan of the first one and if I hadn't seen the bad ass trailers for this one, I'd have passed on seeing it in the theaters Disappointed: Thor - Boring Thor 2 - Boring and stupid Iron Man 2 - Wow, this movie is bad Iron Man 3 - They took bad, and somehow made it even shittier. How the face of the MCU could be in such terrible, terrible movies I can't understand. Avengers: Age of Ultron - Homerun with Avengers, Grandslam with Infinity Wars, yet they somehow managed to **** the bed with this one. I forget this is even a movie, it gets about zero play on tv and I don't think it was ever put on Netflix, I never looked for it though.
Age of Ultron gets way too much flack. I think that it suffered from heightened expectations more than anything else. It was still a mega-blockbuster in an age of mega-blockbusters. It did get Scarlet Witch, Vision & Quicksilver into the Marvel films. Maybe I'm the small minority, but I actually liked James Spader's take on Ultron as a petulant child / teenager. I don't think that I would have enjoyed a "I. Am. A. Robot." take on the character as much.
Yea. Could tell she was a very smug, self-righteous person. Not being bitter, I've asked other celebrities to take a picture with before and been turned down numerous times. But her response just caught me off-guard. I usually get a sorry not right now response, but her response was something new. Anyways, not every person is the same.
