Maybe you don't understand the historical, real-life context in which the character was created? Cap is supposed to be the embodiment of the American idealback in the 40's....and everything back then was exaggerated and over the top. Oddly enough, Wolverine (the movie character) probably did a lot of good in bolstering the comic book industry and attracting a lot of new readers. I'm not saying I like it....
Well, that's silly. Did you give up on books when you got a stinker? Or TV? Or a bad Rockets season? There are plenty of quality comics out there.
I guess you're right. I don't understand. Of course, I don't care either. He still looks ridiculous/lame.
Some historical, real-life context about the thadeus aka captain america: Biography: sex penis. Location: Texas Interests: gettin' it on like donkey kong. Occupation: see above.
Yes but I don't see why it's somehow popular and relevant enough to warrant a multi-million dollar film in 2011...
This look better than I thought but they could have tone down the bright colors. Hopefully the film will have a dark visual tone like Hellboy but I have a feeling this is going to be another disaster where a director doesn't have a visual sense. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8r097tqv-tY" frameborder="0"></iframe> Not sure why they can't follow this color scheme.
Captain America is Marvel's Superman. He's also awesome, A LOT of people will go to see this movie. Just because you "don't get it" doesn't mean you speak for the populous, champ.
I don't have high hopes for this one, but the suit looks a little better than it did in the early shots. But holy hell are those costumes behind him cheesy looking.
No, Spiderman is Marvel's Batman. Capt. America hasn't been relevant since, well before my time. AND I'M OLD, DAMNIT!
I'm just going to spoiler all of this because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. Spoiler Cap is the most commonly present member of the Avengers. The big company wide crossover a couple years back, Civil War, was headlined by Cap and Iron Man. Cap's death following Civil War was a major event, leading to a new Captain America. Caps return was also a big deal. Over on their Ultimate line, Cap is the leader of the Ultimates, and the first arc of the Avengers focused on Cap. Anyone that reads Marvel comics knows that Cap is still relevant in the MU.
Just to echo the last post- Cap is extremely relevant in the Marvel world at the moment. He and Iron Man and the Civil War saga were very compelling.
