I'm happy they are going with the WW2 approach. They need to dull up or darken the color of the customs up a bit. I think it would kick total ass if the setting is something like Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Capt. is taking on the crazy Nazi.

It looks cool, but I think it's too modern looking for WWII. That should be the costume when he joins the Avengers in present time.

This is what I was hoping for, maybe a different helmet/mask:

Nice find. But I don't think that's going to sit well with a lot of fans. I think the design for the new uniform will work and won't look too modern if they use the proper materials instead of that shiny plastic or leather material.

    I hope so...

I'm pretty sure the wings will be there if there's a sequel.

This should look good if they darken the colors up a bit.

Nah. Captain America's outfit has always been among the goofiest. The cool thing is that it has a sensible symbolic meaning. It was used as a symbol of freedom and inspiration during the war. When you realize that you can more easily accept the goofy costume.

I'm with you. I just don't see how anyone can pull of Captain America (or Thor) without it looking major cheeseball.

The costume is weird without the wings....circumcised is the word I'm looking for.

I agree. Always thought that Captain America was a corny idea and goofy looking as well.

Ironically it was an attempt to make Cap more "gritty and relevant" that caused me to give up reading comic books years ago.

There was an issue where Cap had to machine gun a terrorist to save lives.

It was during the height of Wolverinemania...and every new character was, of course, both a loner and a killing machine. So I read that issue and figured even the old characters were being rewritten to fit the Wolvie format.

So when Captain America used a machine gun...I despaired of characters being anything other than endless clones of Wolverine.
