Skyline looked horrible even in the previews, after I found out it was directed by the same crew that did Alien v Predator Requiem I was totally uninterested.
really depends upon what kind of technology they had. if they had biological weapons, then yeah, send a probe with a mutating virus and watch everything die in a day. everything else left in tact. but if all they had were energy based weapons, then they probably need to go hand to hand in order to ensure our resources aren't destroyed in collateral damage. makes sense.
Except with such advanced weapons and drive systems it seems like they could use radiation weapons like neutron bombs that do little damage to infrastructure and resources. Or for that matter why do they rely on line of site directed energy weapons when even we have the technology to use over the horizon weapons like cruise missiles? My own guess is that it would make for a lot of boring movies if you never say the aliens but all you saw were things like photon torpedoes dropping on LA, NYC and etc out of the sky. Understandably this is sci-fi where logic doesn't always apply but it seems to me that more logical alien invasion plots are when there are very few aliens so they have to secretly infiltrate us or in the case of Body Snatchers actually need us for other purposes.

Wow...I'm liking it more and more. Aaron Eckhart Bridget Moynahan Michael Pena Michelle Rodriguez All decent actors. Director and writer don't have much on their resume though.
Blogs and critics have seen it but there is an embargo on reviews. Usually when this happens it's because the movie sux.
Well I'm willing to bet critics will not like it because it probably has zero story. But if it's beginning to end all-out alien war like the trailers lead you to believe, I could care care less.
It could also mean they want to keep people in the dark about the story (which is reasonable for this film) or there is a twist that they don't want getting out. I mean if you want to look at it with a positive outlook
2012 was an absurd disaster flick, with enough holes to drive a fleet of Mack trucks through, but I enjoyed it in a "guilty pleasure" sort of way. I'm hopeful that Battle: Los Angeles will end up beating it in the guilty pleasure category.
