There were parts that reminded me a lot of Arkham Knight (minus all the killing of course), which I love. When he was in the rafters disabling weapons -- and they had no clue where he was -- that was 100% video game awesomeness.
For real! All DC's animated movies are well done. Just finished watching JL vs. Teen titans and it was good.
Agreed. I wish Marvel's animated movies were as good. Planet Hulk, and Hulk vs. Wolverine were incredible. I think there was a decent Thor one or two as well. Other than that... Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes was a very underrated animated series. The newer ones I'm not very impressed with.
Jeez not good; 81 percent drop off?! http://www.askmen.com/news/entertainment/batman-v-superman-drops-70-at-the-box-office-in-second-weekend.html
I finally got around to watching it this Friday with my kids and the there were a lot of empty seats in the theater. I was disappointed with the movie. Too many things that didn't make any sense. To me the dream sequences in this movie were confusing and a waste of time. Not only was Luthor annoying, his motivation to do the things he did in this movie didn't really make sense. Jesse Eisenberg just Jar Jar binks'd this movie.
Actually it's called Batman V Superman. One of the other stupid decisions when making this movie. They wanted it 'clear from the title, that it isn't exactly Batman against Superman'. Dumbbbb.
I was ok with it, but certain things were really irritating. Why did they have to take two distinct solid standalone stories from a 10 year span of DC (Miller's Dark Knight Returns and - to avoid spoilers- the first appearance of Doomsday) and squeeze them into one movie? That could have been two movies, and Doomsday could have been the reason to get the JL together. The dramatic name coincidence thing just straight up sucked. The dream sequences - not the flashbacks, but the fantasy crap - just seemed pointless. I dont think we needed a full hour of political anti-superman debating. I did like Baffleck, he did great as Batman. WW was solid and there should have been more of her. The battle between B and S was cool, but I liked it better in the comics, especially with an angry Oliver Queen whose arm had been ripped off by Superman. (I know they could not have integrated that into this but I liked it in the comic)
Watched Superman Returns again. Last time we have had a Superman film. This new guy sucks. Superman 1978 93% Superman II 1980 89% Superman Returns 2006 76% Man of Steel 2013 56% Batman v Superman 2016 29%
I truly hated Superman Returns but I'm pretty much with the critics on these rankings. I didn't think it was possible to hate a Superman movie more than Superman Returns but then you see Man of Steel or BvS and it's like being a Democrat and longing for the good old days of Bush the elder watching Brandon Routh (now The Atom on the CW) pretending to be Christopher Reeve.
Man of Steel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Superman returns. The only thing that Superman Returns did better was mimick the old Superman movies as if the old Superman movies hold a monopoly of how a superman movie should be done. Just no. It was cheesy as ****... BTW, if you notice, Man of Steel has a higher audience review by a pretty wide margin on Rotten Tomatoes and has a higher average imbd rating also. The audience liked Man of Steel more while the critics liked Superman Returns more. I barely ever trust critics mainly because they are pseudo-intellectuals who value 'the message' a movie has more than entertainment. Man of Steel actually depicted what it would look like if two super beings fought against each other. The fight between superman and the 2 Kryptonians in Smallville was the best fight in any Superman movie by far (haven't seen Batman v Superman yet).
My greatest concern after this terrible film, what happens to the lesser known properties at DC Extended Universe? 1. Warner Bros is delusional. First, it said the critics ravaging BvS was fine as long as it made money at the box office. Now, after taking a nosedive in the 2nd and 3rd weekends, the studio has revised its outlook and BvS is on track to make less money than Man of Steel. This is disastrous. BvS is now both a critical and commercial flop. No way around it. It won't even do a billion worldwide - the standard for blockbusters these days let alone the biggest team-up in comic history. 2. BvS was suppose to excite and sell audiences on the other slate of films yet to come. If the two biggest properties in comic book history; Batman and Superman can't light up the box office, then what chance do lesser known heroes like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash have? 3. This was DC's strategy to emulate Marvel's cinematic universe and introduce lesser known characters with standalone films all leading to a super team-up Justice League series. I'm not certain that is going to happen now. Marvel got where they are today by literally bringing The Avengers together cinematically with solo movies all leading up to the big one. DC started with the exact opposite; bringing out the heavy guns first which may have poisoned the well for the rest. No offense, but after the preview in BvS, who really is gonna sit through an Aquaman solo outing? Not me. This is what will unravel the DCEU. Falling to gain traction for its secondary properties while Marvel continues to churn out the like of Ant-Man into box office success. Also not to forget, what is the market now for DCEU for non-comic book fans? You can't build a cinematic empire solely relying on the hardcore fans to only show up every time like they did for BvS and hence the nosedive after opening weekend. This is Hollywood Blockbuster 101. You have to expand your audience or else the returns will keep diminishing.
I honestly think that casting superdweeb Eisenberg as Lex killed the movie. Then they miswrote his whole personality.
All it would take is for the movies to actually be good. I don't think there were a ton of people amped up to go out and see ant man or Guardians of the Galaxy, but they made good movies and people ate it up. I don't generally care about Aquaman, but if they do a good job making it, and it's actually a good movie then I'll be all over it. That said, I don't have a lot of faith that they'll make worthwhile movies. They really screwed up by not tying the movies in to the already successful DC TV shows they had like Flash and Arrow. Ignoring those and re-casting the characters was just stupid IMO.
Everyone wanted to see Guardians after the trailers...and they did. Ant Man similarly but to a lesser extent.
Is it possible that there's more to a good movie than showing a good fight scene between two invincible beings?
