i'm hoping the events are close in time to TDK. i think that makes sense with the arc of the story that i BELIEVE he's trying to tell.
Batman 3 will begin in 2019, where an aging Batman, equipped with a high-tech Batsuit, takes on the kidnappers of Bunny Vreeland (the daughter of Veronica Vreeland, one of Bruce Wayne's many girlfriends). During the battle, Batman will suffer a heart attack which leaves him unable to fight, forcing him to betray a life-long principle by threatening a criminal with a gun. The story will fast-forward to 2039 in Neo-Gotham, a futuristic megalopolis equipped with staggering high rises and flying vehicles. Bruce Wayne is a recluse living in bitter isolation with no companion but his guard dog, Ace. He'll encounter an athletic 16-year-old high school student (TBD) and reformed troublemaker with a deeply ingrained sense of personal justice. His first act will be to defend a fellow passenger on a commuter rail from a member of the Jokerz gang. After attempting to defend his girlfriend from a gang of Jokerz, he'll engage in a high-speed chase which ends on the grounds of Wayne Manor, where he runs into the elderly Bruce Wayne. Bruce and Terry will fend off the Jokerz side-by-side, but the exertion will aggravate Bruce's heart condition. Terry will help Bruce back to the manor, and etc. etc. etc. C'mon. It's clear as day, folks.
Now all they need to do is sign up Julia Stiles as Catwoman and they can complete the 10 Things I Hate About You reunion.
You read Perez Hilton? Anyways, I followed the links and the original story seems to have come from comicbookmovies.com but has since been wiped off the site. The site Perez got the story from is batman-movie-news.com. It turns out at the site comicbookmovies.com, you can create your own mini site, a fansite. It's basically like bleacherreport or associated content. Any a-hole can create a free place to disseminate their crappy opinions or bs stories. BTW percicles, did you even read the whole story? Already turned down the role is a great out for when you are making rumors up.

I'll agree, Killer Croc would make sense. Also think he could be Bane or Clayface, it just depends how far Nolan wants to go into the fantasy realm of the Batman universe or if he can find a way to twist their origins into reality.
I thought about posting that Killer Croc rumor Hardy was being linked to it but after reading why they thought it would be Croc I kind of dismissed it.
Killer Croc doesn't fit the MO of villains Nolan would use. Plus I seriously doubt they will be spending significant time in New Orleans. Think about how much of the previous movies took place in Hong Kong or Tibet.
