Real talk. The Horizon Forbidden West trailer looks more realistic.

Never seen Avatar.. never wanted to.. but there was a freaking loud as applause when the first few seconds of the preview was shown at the theatre... I looked at my son afterwards like " That's something to get excited about"?

...always the first thing that comes to mind with a Jim Cameron movie.

...that every Boomer will go see, multiple times.

James Cameron has pretty well proven that he's a master at creating blockbuster movies and that he shouldn't be doubted. He's an arrogant ass, but he's damn good at what he does. Avatar was an amazing film experience, despite the unoriginal and heavily borrowed story. As much as I loved it, I have questioned the need for 3 sequels so long after the first. This trailer doesn't squash my skepticism, but it does prove to me a few things: it'll still be fun to go back to Pandora and it'll be a beautiful movie. Looking forward to the water effects. I think there will be some disappointment in the box office though. No way it makes 2 billion.

I am not sure if subscription fees to Disney+ is counted as "box office".......I have not followed box office numbers in 2 years.

But I bet you revenue streams are vastly different now.

I would pay to view it online BTW....I do not want to get squeezed in a packed 3 D theater today.

I am also not that excited about blockbusters as I once was. And I do not doubt Jim.

I couldn't find the one but the leaked one had Atlantis type vibes, this one hits home close enough I guess.

The Gifs about him touching the whale should be real.

There are so many hilarious videos of over the top paint ballers on YouTube for inspiration -- this movie writes itself.

One of the problems with taking forever to release something like this next Avatar movie is the rest of the industry continues moving as you make it. What was breathtaking and felt like next level effects in the theater at Avatar (improved in no small way by the well-utilized 3D) is not going to feel as groundbreaking now. I realize he supposedly has all these advancements in CGI related to underwater effects, but just going off the trailer it doesn't feel too next-level to me.

I'm sure it will make lots of money, but collectively I think we'll all wonder why in the hell this took over 10 years to make.

That Unreal Engine 5 looks damn good. Can't wait to see what Naughty Dog and Rock Star games does with it.
