For any gamers out there, this last gen Alien game apparently inspired some of the movie, picked it up for $8 bucks on the PlayStation store...... https://gamerant.com/alien-isolation-player-count-spike-august-2024/
Cinemark XD destroys all these lie-max theaters. 9/10 movie. She gave birth to an engineer from Prometheus. The hybrid alien is NBA player Robert Bobrocski
I planned to watch this in theaters when I saw the trailer months back, but I totally forgot about this movie RT audience score is 86% which gives me the sense that it’s probably pretty good, but I’ll just wait for it to be available on streaming
Definitely one of the better movies in the franchise. For me, it just felt like a lived in world of the future (minus the aliens with acid for blood). Really liked how the tech looked and everything worked together to set a tone, plus the CGI visuals in space were pretty awesome.
I caught this movie with my wife and we both loved it. I was shocked as scifi horror is one of her least favorite genres. It was a great combination of what worked with previous movies and new thrills. The ending was .... wow.
9.1/ 10 I thought it was pretty cool they kept the sets, weapons, computers and Asics kicks all retro from the original Alien time line. The closing scene delivers what Longlegs promised, nightmares. For those worried about the "W" word, there weren't any lesbian Latinas in an elite squad like in the 1980s classic. Shame.
I was hoping to be able to make a woke joke, but not much to joke about. This movie is safe for fox news viewers.
Finally got to the theater to catch this over the weekend. Absolutely loved the movie. I feel like they played a little hard and fast with some of the rules previously established in past Alien movies, specifically around the time it takes for a face hugger to impregnate a human, how much time it takes that to hatch into an alien, and then how long it takes that alien to become fully grown. I also felt like the end borrowed a little too heavily from Alien Resurrection (which I unabashedly LOVE) but didn't execute it nearly as well. But those are minor complaints. Still a 9/10 movie for me and a worthy entry into the franchise. Question that I guess I'll spoiler in case it might spoil this movie somehow for someone: Spoiler So this takes place in between Alien and Aliens, right? And this colony planet that they start out on is the location of all the action in the movie Aliens, yes? Since it seems like everything on that research station gets totally obliterated in the asteroid/debris belt at the end, how does the colony get overrun by the xenomorphs? Do some somehow survive the station's destruction and re-entry to the planet? Or since it was a colony run by the same corporation that is trying to develop these aliens, do we just assume they brought the research down to the surface at some point as well? Just wondering if I missed some key part of the movie that explained that.
I saw it, too. I really enjoyed it. Definitely the third best behind the first two. It was definitely a mash-up of things from the other films along with some new stuff of its own. But, it was really well done and watching it on the big screen was the right choice versus waiting to see it at home later.
Spoiler: Location Romulus occurs on LV-410 with the first two film's occurring on LV-426, so its safe to assume the space station is entirely destroyed.....
Enjoyed! Super fun, with good use of tension and some new wrinkles. Spoiler Loved all the scrambling face-huggers in the hallway, and loved the floating acid. Really fun, laugh in delight in the theater type of stuff. Loved the effects and the station, the world and the asteroid ring. Excellent stuff, and like others, glad I saw that on the big screen. I liked the idea of the WY corporation interbreeding to make superior workers, I guess, but then the late act realization of that... felt a little silly. LOL But of all the suspension of disbelief (like ragamuffins having their own spaceship, LOL, the hardest one is this for me: why would a corporation so skilled in robotics rely on human workers anyway? I guess they could be fairly cheap compared to top line androids? I really liked the casting of Andy and his changes were super convincing as he got updated directives and abilities. Kudos to the actor. I thought have him say the "b****" line, fan service and all, was poorly handled, and not his fault. That's a super tiny complaint but was literally the only point I went "ugh! stop it!" Really glad I stayed with this thread and trusted some of the feedback. This one was up my alley. Not perfect, but totally worth 2 hours in the theater.
