When did Zo ever play power forward? I am a fan of Zo but even if we got him...I think he should play Center because he has no outside shot. If both Zo and Ming want to play at the same time then I would suggest playing Ming at power forward because Ming has a decent outside shot and is more moble then Zo. Now that would be a pretty good front court. Not only would you have to worry about Zo's interior scoring but Yao is simply a mismatch for any powerforward height wise. Although Yao looked ackward at times, I think next year you will see major adjustments in his footwork. If you had Zo, a healthy Zo, and Yao that is a front court which could contend for a title.
"If you had Zo, a healthy Zo, and Yao that is a front court which could contend for a title." Add KG, and Jason Kidd, and you could even put a couple of exclamation marks on that statement.
I don't know if we can get Zo or not, but I would love to have him. I think he is one tough veteran that can help us. He can show/teach Yao how to play bang inside and he would slap the youngsters around for dribbling too much and/or playing 1 on 5 ball.
Would you do Griffin and Rice for Zo? This would give Zo a three year deal starting at around $10 to $14 million per year, a very nice salary. Miami gets a good young player, a hometown player in Rice, plus cap room next summer when Rice and several of their other contracts come off the cap (to sign Elton Brand as an unrestricted free agent?). Or how about Cato for Zo? Zo's salary could start at around $8 million for this kind of deal. All sign and trades have to be at least three years. This is obviously a risk with Zo. Could one or two of these years be non-guaranteed (like the Brad Miller contract when he was signed and traded to the Bulls), or has this loophole been closed? Of course, Zo for the MCE would be nice. But Dallas could offer the same thing, and would be a more attractive location.
how about signing him to the MCE? he hasn't played in 2 years (i think) and will probobly only be good for 10-8-2. look at grant hill. he was averaging 28-7-6. he's gone for 2 years (by now its 3, but im going by the last time he played for a couple of months), and when he did come back he was averaging only 15 points.
Georgetown University. He was a 4 and Mutombo was the 5 right? Of course he certainly isnt a college kid anymore. If we could get ZO affordably I like the idea. Maybe a 1 yr deal. I think he could be a great addition.
So HOW much better would a healthy Zo be than OT back in the day? He and Ming could bang all day with Duncan and O'Neal, Shaq and whomever. I hadn't given this enough thought given the strong opposition to the idea. Wow! Zo for the MCE wouldn't be a bad thing. Ming would find it a bit easier to get a someone to watch his back if Zo's in H-town. Speaking of covering Ming, I'll never forget MoT stepping up to Magliorre, God bless Mo...but, that kiss seemed to last forever, I almost changed the channel because I hate romantic comedies! BTW, Meg Ryan should be shipwrecked on a deserted island.
