Man, that sounds awesome. I"m excited about next season. BUT, I don't want it to come by too fast because the Stros are about to play.
You know how it always goes. The remaining $9MM that is left over after the signing bonus is back loaded so the Texans can cut him after 2 years and be just fine. I'm guessing the first two years of his contract pay him a little less than $4MM of the $9MM, so the total payout over two years would be ~$9MM or a little less. Then they will either cut him or re-sign him at a lower amount.
Im pumped for football season and its not even April yet. This has been a solid offseason. If we score on 3 of the 4 first day picks, then we are setting ourselves up for a fun year.
I know. It's going to be hard to follow in the footsteps of guys like Corey Bradford and Jabar Gaffney.
Agreed the footprints they left are so faint, Moulds will have a hard time seeing them, so he can follow them.
With Dan Reeves and Kubiak now in the room, I'd like to imagine this scenario going something like this. Kubiak: "Well, they are asking for a 4th rounder, but with as high as our picks are, I think they will take the 5th we offered." Casserly: "Hey, if we offer our 3rd and 2nd round pick next year, they might throw in an extra 4th round pick this year!" Kubiak glances at Dan Reeves who in turn looks up at the unassuming man in the neat suit standing next to him, who slowly walks down the conference room table up to Charlie. Pulls out a long, wooden meter stick and raps CC's knuckles hard. "No! No! Bad Casserly!"
Moulds will be great as a #2. I prefer him over Givens; too much money for Givens. He will tear it up now that he's not seeing constant double teams. Maybe he will fill the "Rod Smith" type roll. I'm getting exited
That is an excellent deal for the Texas. But they should hold firm on not giving up the 4th rounder this year. 5th rounder is fine (maybe add conditional 6th/7th next year), that is a lot more to Buffalo than if Buffalo cuts him.
Contrary to this general belief, I think Reeves is still around. "I think we've done very well," McNair said during a break in the NFL spring meetings. "I think we've pretty much filled the holes we had.Gary's very pleased with the players we've signed, and he's very pleased with the job Charley and Dan have done bringing these guys aboard." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/3755212.html
Hmmm...confusing. Reported by McClain yesterday: "Reeves, who coached new Texans coach Gary Kubiak in Denver and strongly recommended him to McNair, fulfilled his obligations to the owner and is no longer associated with the team."
