May I ask what the hell Motley Crue was doing at a video game awards show? Was Crue Ball up for something???
Holy crap, what a TRAIN WRECK! Girls Girls Girls was pretty sloppy, but it was going OK until Snoop came out. Then the backing vocal track got all screwed up and you kept hearing "girls girls girls" at the weirdest times. Then Dr Feelgood was pretty much doomed from the start. I think Tommy started the song 2 beats too late (I'll have to watch it again to confirm) so the backing vocal track came in 2 beats too early. From then on, you could just see it in their faces that they knew they were going down and there was nothing they could do about it. Mick starts getting REALLY sloppy with his solo. It sounds even worse because there's no rhythm guitar and you can't hear the bass (surprise) so it just sounds like MUSH. Hopefully these guys can work out the bugs before they go out on tour because if every show is like that, it's not going to last.
Or better yet with Lindsay Lohan? Although I could see a connection with Lohan through Tommy Lee but it would not be for musical reasons!
I watched Motley Crue during that show. It wasn't lip-synced. The chorus parts were sampled and placed on a computer. Whoever was put in charge of placing the chorus sample was a moron who obviously had no clue how the songs went. I'm guessing it was the DJ that introduced them. It's pretty obvious when you think about it. "Girls" never had its chorus so sporadically placed before.
Some how...I don't think Snoop got his full rap out. It looked to me that he didn't want to compete with the "Girls, Girls, Girls" chorus so he worked his way off-stage. I was just waiting on Vince to do the hoe-down dance. They should have had the band up there apologizing at the end. I'm starting to think the Crue is over-the-hill. They looked like a bunch of old fogies. I think I got enough out of that one show to send them back into retirement or break-up again. I enjoy them more in their reality television shows when their not playing.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Vince was actually singing. It was just the background vocals that were pre-recorded. I think those guys assumed they could just pick up their instruments (which they probably haven't touched in years) and just start playing again without any practice or rehearsals. Clearly that's not the case. Those boys should really hit the rehearsal studio for a few weeks before they take it on the road. BTW, there's nothing wrong with a drummer playing to a click track.
It gets better: http://apnews.myway.com//article/20041216/D870U8I80.html Motley Crue Singer Accused of Assault Dec 16, 2:38 PM (ET) By The Associated Press DALLAS (AP) - Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is accused of knocking out an employee of a Dallas nightclub after a disagreement over sound levels during a concert. An arrest warrant for misdemeanor assault was issued Wednesday for Neil in the fight at Gilley's Dallas during an Oct. 30 show. Gilley's soundman Michael Talbert was knocked unconscious by a punch allegedly thrown by Neil that pushed him to the floor. A CAT scan showed a mild concussion, Talbert told The Dallas Morning News for a story in Thursday's editions. According to a police report attached to the warrant, the singer motioned for more guitar volume but bolted across the stage as Talbert adjusted it. The affidavit said Neil jumped onto the soundboard, kicked at Talbert, then punched him in the face. The soundman was knocked unconscious for about 45 seconds, the warrant said. Motley Crue members have announced a reunion tour that will bring the band to Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie on March 17. Dallas police and prosecutors said if Neil doesn't contact them about the warrant, they probably will wait to act on it when he returns to the area. Police had given the 43-year-old singer a criminal-trespass warning before he left the club and headed to Houston for a Halloween show.
That entrance/beginning was freaking SWEET. Vince/Sixx on Harleys, Mick coming up from below, and Tommy from the ceiling? The fire and sluts dancing? Now that's what music is supposed to be about.
