Yeah I dont see anything special at all about a young, skilled 7 Ft player the Rockets traded up in the draft to get who just set a Euroleague record for rebounds. He has his share of negative flyers about his game from Euro fans on this board and scouts, but realize that its a long time since the Rockets have had a prospect that had this high of a ceiling come via draft. I dont know for sure whether Morey really can bring him over or not, but all indications through the media are that he will be here next summer. Plus, if Prokom is really as bad as many posters here are make it seem, why wouldnt he want to come if his contract allows him to(which is does)? Plus, there is the whole money issue, which he's sure to make more of in the NBA, his cap hold is something like 1.3 million a year I believe. It wont be Donatas holding himself hostage overseas, and it shouldnt be Morey given that they should have playing time and the need for what he can bring to the table now in the NBA. There is no reason to believe he will get stuck overseas any longer than this season.
It really is crazy to say that, but you are right. However, I think it's between him and Patterson (if these ankle issues aren't chronic). The last guy before that was Yao. However, neither of these 2 have the upside Yao had.
They are warming up, linky for the game here: http://www.firstrowsports.tv/watch/99183/1/watch-asseco-prokom-trefl-sport-vs-montepaschi-siena.html I might be wrong but I don't recall there ever being much hype around Eliyahu.
I'm actually surprised we haven't heard anything about Eliyahu. He is one of the better players in Europe for his position. 16.4 ppg and 5.8 rpg and 1.8apg
Or those minute adjusted stats? His Euroleague stats this year are 11.2, 3.3, and 1.1, respectively. He is shooting over 60% which is very nice. Playing just over 20 mpg. I haven't seen him play. I suspect he may not have a position he can guard in the NBA.
Nikola Mirotic Euroleague December MVP. http://www.euroleague.net/news/i/91878/180/bwin-mvp-for-december-nikola-mirotic-real-madrid I'm convinced that Motiejunas pick by the Rockets at #20 was REALLY good; my only doubt is whether Mirotic wouldn't have been even a better choice. This guy has potential to pass the european level of Toni Kukoc or Dejan Bodiroga. That said, in favor of the Rockets and Donatas I see his body -and overall game- translating better to the NBA than Nikola's. If we talk about european basketball, I would pick Mirotic ahead of Motiejunas, Mirotic is a sure thing; for the NBA I think I would still go with Donatas' profile. ... Just watched the news and wanted to talk a little bit about both players.
Mirotic will be a fine player. Donuts has the size advantage going for him. There is huge upside to his game..... Best case scenarios vary from Bargnani to Gasol, Nowitzki.....sky's the limit I am sure you know more about Mirotic's game. I really want to see how their game translate to the national league.
Nikola mirotic have contract with real until 2016... and real madrid want to keep mirotic 2-3 years and then realease him to nba..
Donatas Motiejunas led his team to a win while scoring 14 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in VTB game.
Stats: http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?pcode=LCZ PPG: 12.5 RPG: 7.9 APG: 0.9
Stats in VTB: http://www.vtb-league.com/en/player/donatas-motiejunas.htm?sid=14733 PPG: 13.4 RPG: 7.1
Any news recently on Donatas???.... All news on the internet is Lithuanian or in some crazy foreign language.
It is like the 3rd best european league. You can see the progress in DMo: http://www.vtb-league.com/en/player/donatas-motiejunas.htm?sid=14733
So... I know OHMSS said something about Asseco Prokom's season not ending until May or something... is this true? Does the VTB season last that long or is there some other league that the team plays in?
