    That's not pertinent to this conversation.

    That murder rate is from the crack explosion and when gangs were on the rise.

    Fact: When my parents were youngsters, it was safer to walk to school than it is in 2012.

    I'm just glad there was a predator drone around to spot the kid walking alone and then it was able to track his mom and assassinate her with a missile.

    No. The awareness of danger is higher now but the actual danger is less. Murder rate is a convenient and concise statistic to look at (and the kid getting murdered is one of the concerns, right?), but all kinds of crime are down.
