It was one of the worst choreographed movies I have ever SEEN. If you though Equilibrium rocked, u my friend have poor taste in movies. The same dude also directed Ultraviolet which again was one of the worst movies EVER made. Kurt Wimmer deserves the death penalty.
POINT BREAK - the nadir of swayzee and reeves careers...nay, the nadir of cinematography...nay, the nadir of human civilization. swayzee's lines come off like the words of jesus written by shakespeare. "i know you want me so bad its like acid in your mouth, but not this time johnny" "Not tragic to die doing what you love. You want the ultimate thrill, you gotta be willing to pay the ultimate price. " "It's basic dog psychology, brah. If you scare them, get them pissing down their leg, they submit... you control them. If you project weakness, you draw aggression... that's how people get hurt. Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true. You project strength to avoid conflict." (On Bells Beach Australia, for the 50 year storm) Utah: You gotta go down. You crossed the line and people trusted you and they died. Bodhi: Yeah, it went bad. It went real bad. Bodhi: You know there's no way l can handle a cage, man. Utah: l don't care. You gotta go down. lt's gotta be that way. Bodhi: OK, man. OK. l'm screwed. l'm gonna go to jail and l'll pay, and Johnny Utah gets his guy. Right? Good for you. That's real good. You're gonna be a big hero now. But look at it, Johnny. Look at it! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, man. Just let me go out there, let me get one wave before you take me. One wave! Where am l gonna go, man? Cliffs on both side. l'm not gonna paddle to New Zealand! My whole life has been about this moment, Johnny. Come on, compadre. Come on. COME ON! Utah: Via con Dios! These conflicting emotions in Johnny lead to a stirring ending. Johnny knows that Bodhi cannot handle a cage. This leads Johnny to question his values as a FBI agent. When he is convinced that the system, not Bodhi, is the enemy, he ends his relationship with Bodhi in a final gesture of kindness. He lets Bodhi catch his last wave, after all, there are cliffs on both sides and Bodhi's not going to paddle to New Zealand. In an act of rebellion and disgust for the system, Johnny throws his badge into the waves. Johnny would rather surf than be the system's b****. The fact that Bodhi is not a cartoonish super villain like Doctor Evil is what makes this movie great. He is charming and is portrayed as more of a hero than a villain. He is shown not as an evil bank robber but as a searcher for the ultimate ride. Bodhi "could never hold a knife to Tyler's throat." Tyler was his woman, they "shared time." Johnny is forced by duty to be Bodhi's nemesis, but in his heart he wants to be Bodhi's friend. In the end, Johnny's inner struggle is resolved. He remains faithful to his FBI values by catching Bodhi. At the same time, he doesn't betray Bodhi because he lets him catch his last wave. http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~gtc23/pb.htm
Escape from L.A. You just don't see many people high five while riding a tsunami to catch up with a convertible to jump on it. I mean how does someone come up with this? It's just sick.
Speaking of Bruce Willis, I wish to proclaim Die Hard as the best action movie of all time. Also, Pitch Black is seriously underrated.
VERY underrated movie. I loved the chemistry between Willis and Wayans: Willis: Leather pants? Wayans: Yeah. Willis: What's something like that run? Wayans: Six-fifty. Willis: Six hundred and fifty dollars? Wayans: Yeah. Willis: They're pants. Wayans: Yeah. Willis: You wear them? Wayans: YES. Willis: They don't, like, have a TV in them or something? Wayans: Nope. Willis: I am very old.
A-FREAKING MEN!!!! i don't think there's any action movie even remotely close to Die Hard. actual characters??? who'd a thunk it? because of that, i say it's the most underrated as well. it sets the bar for me, and may be my favorite movie of any genre.
Hate to go Old School but anything with Charles Bronson - is underrated these days Man on Fire was FIRE to me [reminded my of an old Chuck Bronson shoot 'em up] 5 Deadly Venoms [and a million other Karate Pictures] Rocket River
Rutger Hauer Charles Dutton Ice-T & Gary Busey with a killer monologue about becoming a man Not great but very underestimated. Enter the Dragon
I don't know if anybody saw Hard Rain with Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater, but I thought it was awesome. It's about this old bank robber that goes for his big retirement score, but the town floods. Terminator 3: I guess because it will forever be compared to the two masterpieces that preceded it, but I thought it had a great ending and probably the best car chase scene ever. The Chase: To say this is Charlie Sheen's best movie other than Major Leauge probably says more about his career than anything. This movie kicked ass anyways...
Brotherhood of the Wolf And yes, Die Hard is the greatest action movie ever. And The Last Boyscout is awesome. "Look Joe, it just happened." "Sure, it just happened. Could happen to anybody. It was an accident, right? You tripped, fell on the floor and accidently stuck your dick into my wife. 'Oops, I'm sorry, Mrs. H, I guess this just isn't my week'".
Can't believe no one pointed this out yet...."Leon (aka The Professional)" is probably one of the most under-rated action movies out there. It has a very strong cult following, but it would hardly make any critics Top 10 Action Flick list.
