The only episode I liked of King of the Hill was the Queen Batonya(spelling??) one. Another one of my favorite show is Fresh Prince of Bel air. That show is still hilarious, even though they are still reruns and I've seen every episode.
I wonder if there is a tie-in between people who love the show and where they are from? I know myself and others I have talked to see all sorts of things in KOTH that are soooo rural Texas that you know the Judge had to have grown up in rural Texas.. Have you ever met anyone like Boomhauer or Dale? I know for sure on Boomhauer...Dale reminds me of a couple of guys that I used to know.. My theory probably has nothing to do with reality...but there it is.
LOL, arkoe - why don't you just say that you hate all TV shows? I would say Friends but I can see Cosby being an overrated show, but I didn't think it was but I can see it being claimed as overrated before Seinfeld or The Simpsons. Oh, Rockets2K, I agree with you on Jerry and George being very irritating. Jerry Seinfeld, in particular, is a very poor actor. George really got bad in like the last 2 seasons; however, the way they act is so integral to the show and makes all the other characters even better that I overlook their annoying behavior.
Does anyone think Friends would be more tolerable if the cast members wern't so pretty and they lived in kind of crappy apartments? All I know is when I see those guys dancing in that fountain my blood starts to boil.
It would've been easier to just list the one's I actually like/don't mind. Granted, there are a lot of shows such as Ed, 24, and many other shows that sound interesting, but I've just never gotten around to sitting down and watching them.
I've never been a big fan of King of the Hill either. Funny thing is I loved the Hank Hill on Beavis and Butthead. The Hank on KOTH is very different from the one on B & B. Kind of like the Simpsons on Tracy Ullman. I'm not even sure if it's the same Hank or not. And yes, I too despise American Idol. It's great for the first 2 or 3 shows when they have all the sorry people but once they narrow it down, it blows chunks.
i don't know how anyone can say "The Sopranos" is overrated. Watch season 1 thru 3 and no way you say it's overrated. Friends is overrated. It's just not funny to me.
overrated: Home Improvement (can't stand grunting, bad animation, and jonathan taylor thomas...i liked heidi tho) Cheers (never got into it) VASTLY underrated: the wonder years
1. we have a winner. i've seen enough of it b/c my sister for some reason loves it, but i have never ever found it funny nor dramatic. it's just so damn boring. 2. The Cosby Show - like RM95, i hate the summer block party stuff on nick at nite. i want my 9-10 and 12:30 fix of Cheers every night dammit, not a 4 hour OD session (though i enjoy the OD very much). having to see cosby on all the time pisses me off. as does seeing #3... 3. All in the Family - people liked this show? sometimes they almost try to be political to the point of parody. i mean do we have to deal with every issue ever and make it seem real big? it has a moment every once in a while, but i don't stick around to see those b/c it's just not funny really. and even though i hadn't even thought of it until someone mentioned it, i'd like to bash on 70's TV a little more and include the Jefferson's. i thank God as often as possible that i was born in '81 so i would in no way be associated with 70's TV or the 70's in general. all the comedies (except for mary tyler moore, and i haven't seen that in a while so maybe i hate that too) blew and everything always seemed to be orange on all the game shows and talk shows. wtf was up with that. seriously, 70's tv blew. what's up with all the Friend's hating. does being a rocket fan lend one to hate this show or something? i mean it's been one of the highest rated shows forever and i like it, my family likes it, and virtually everyone i know (even people with much different tastes than me in comedy) likes it. KOTH: at first, i remember thinking of this show much the same way i thought of MASH, just damn boring with almost no jokes seemingly written into the script. now i find it hilarious. all of hank's quirk's along with boomhauer and dale are just great. love that show. and finally, Cheers is in no way overrated. along with the Simpson's, the greatest sitcom in American history. it can seem a tiny bit dated at times, but for the vast majority of the time it keeps up and it was so consistently funny from about year 2 all the way through year 11 (it's best episode: woody and kelly's wedding is from the last season) it can't be deemed overrated. it didn't have seinfeld's quirky conversations or the simpson's one-liners, but damn just show in show out it was great. now, dammit, start playing more it nick at nite.
If I would have expanded on my "Nick at Nite" choice, All in the Family would have been on the top of the list. How a couple can whine and complain so much, I'll never know. That and the wife on the show has got to have the most annoying voice ever in television. I can't even make it through the theme song. My second most hated show from Nick at Nite would have to be "I Love Lucy." How a house wife can be so stupid and get in so much trouble, I don't know. For some reason I hate that show, but still love Gilligan's Island. Go figure.
Are you sure that you are not mistaking Jerry's and George's intentional faults for poor acting? From all the Seinfeld that I have seen(And I've seen my fair share...), I have gathered that they are supposed to act like that. Annoying or not(I think they're both awesome characters, despite their obvious and intentional faults), they are playing their roles perfectly. Overrated : Frasier King of the Hill Most WB shows Soap Operas All Reality TV
The character on B&B was actually named Mr Anderson.. He is where Mike Judge got the Hank character from..but it isnt really Hank. Anderson on B&B was older and didnt have any kids.. Whereas Hank is middle aged and has a kid. How could you not despise American Idol..the only part I can bear is the early parts when Siimon is really ripping on the real suckos.. It is amusing but thats about all I can say about it. re: Jerry and George I could see what you mean about their characters playing their parts in the show...but it isnt just their characters that irritate me...I am actually irritated by Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander...the actors..I have yet to see them in anything where I liked them...dont ask me why, they just grate my nerves..the way that Edith Bunker's voice irritated me..
There has been a lot of slamming King of the Hill. I really like that show on its own merit. But the fact that it's different than all the other shows, and original that moves it way up on the list. The kids aren't percocious, little know it all's, or rebellious trouble maker types. The father isn't the big idiot, though he makes plenty of mistakes, he's more together than many of his friends. And the mother isn't the only one with her finger on what's happening with the family and holding it together inspite of the fathers moronic behavior. In KOTH, the characters are more balanced, with both the father and mother making the goofy mistake, or correcting the mistakes that others make equally.
