if battier is our most overrated player, thats hysterical. battier is generally thought of as way underrated. so we must be over underrating him. LOL.
Kyle Lowry is overrated at least around these parts. Solid point guard, very good defensively and good court vision. But the man is only a starter if you have three quality scoring options starting with him. If Yao, McGrady and Scola were starting with him, he'd seem great but put him with our current roster or what we had in the playoffs and he would seem horrible. His offensive game is slightly better then Rafer, except without the 3 point potential, basically he is a game manager not a game winner.
Joey Dorsey. I'd almost rather keep Pops than Dorsey. That's a poll you should do. Pops or Dorsey for the last roster spot.
shane battier by far.......hes a good player, but some people talk as if he were to leave the rockets would never win a basketball game again just for the record I actually like shane, but some people on this board really overrate him
So far it has been Trevor Ariza. Definitely NOT Battier. Everyone knows he is not a superstar but an excellent role player and an elite defender.
when has anyone ever said we would never win another basketball game without shane? Shane is not overrated. Everyone knows what he will bring to the table and no one here says or demands anything more. He is arguably a top 3 perimeter defender in the league and will shoot a couple of threes in a game. Thats all. Its not like anyone here on the site believes he is an all star or a higher scorer. Shane is commonly believed to be underrated as stated by someone else. Anyway...IMO anderson is overrated. I feel that he is going to be exposed in the regular season. Just my opinion. Dorsey is a bit overrated as well. I don't think ariza is overrated, but the board has too high a demand from him. Due to the injuries to the team, I think fans want ariza to create for the team which exceeds his ability.
I think Ariza will be fine he has the tools to be a Battier/Posey type player with a higher ceiling just needs to put them to use. I don't see any Pippen comparison at all he needs to learn how to create for himself and teamates though he has a quick first step like Worthy did. I think he will go about as far as Jerome Kersey went and that's my final conclusion.
Great thing about this thread is it makes you realize how so many Rockets are underrated. That's the kind of team you want to have. I guess at this point, I'd have to say Ariza, just because everyone's talking about his potential so much, as if he's already a top-tier player, but he hasn't gotten there yet. Hope he does, but for now he's unproven as player of that caliber.
I agree though he does not have that far to go the tools are there just needs to put it together. I think Jerome Kersey is his comparison somebody who is quick, athletic can defend and rebound, but as for expectations i would not put it past those unless he learns how to create for himself and the team and shoots with consistency then he will be very solid player border line all-star.
On this board- Chuck Hayes (he's strong, he's tough, he's determined. He cannot play offense. He's too short to play center. He can play PF but he's terrible at offense, it becomes much harder for the team as a whole to execute.) For the Rockets in general- Aaron Brooks (He's fast, he can shoot, he's been quite clutch. However, he still can't create shots for other consistently, he himself is very inconsistent, his defense is ok against speedy guards but not great against others. )
