IYO being in your opinion, of course. Seeing all these movie threads and people who are funny but not and attractive and blah blah made me think of doing one for music. Now, I am prepared to see a lot of people say one band in particular that I like, but hey, it is their opinion. Let's don't get upset or into pissing matches if you see choices that you don't agree with. I like so many different artists and bands that it was hard for me to come up with a lot of picks. However, I will say the Rolling Stones is on my list. I realize that they are important artists, but I have never had a desire to get any of their stuff like I have with Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Bob Dylan, etc. I will also mention Eminem but I am not a fan of rap music in general, and even though I know he is hugely popular with the common music fan, I don't know what music critics think of him. So, what I mean by "overrated" is that it is an artist that has received praise by critics. As such, I don't think that you can say Britney Spears or Creed, etc because I don't think critics have ever said that their music is good.

I think the word "overrated" is thrown around too much. Most people use it to say "bands I don't like"
Great point. As I type this, I'm listening to the new Strokes album. I like The Strokes. But I think they're the most overrated band of the past 10 years. That, I think is the point of this thread. I also like Eminem, but I don't think he's nearly as much of a genius as the critics think he is. (He's slipped into the "automatic 4 stars from Rolling Stone" category.) Yes, Manny, the critics love Eminem. Other bands/artists that I like but think are overrated: Bruce Springsteen Neil Young DMB Oh, and put me down for one who thinks that, no matter how much hype you give them, it's impossible to overrate the Beatles. Just not possible. Also, and I think Manny was alluding to this in his post, I think Radiohead deserves the hype.
