You should watch Nicholas Cage in Lord of War and The Weatherman. He was brilliant in both. Also, his performance in Raising Arizona is classic.
He sucked his way out of the silver screen I don't dislike all of his movies because I think he's great in some of his movies, but I think Denzel was wayyyy overrated in Training Day. Also I think Sean Penn is overrated. I don't watch many of his movies, if at all, but it seems like lately he's only been playing those intense characters who's always angry. Tobey McGuire is overrated. He just lucked out with Spidey. I heard he was asking for more money to do Spidey 2 or he won't do it and the producers said ok then go ahead, leave. And he ended up staying.
im not sure about the toby thing...he may have asked for a raise, but im pretty sure he signed on for 3 movies fromt he very start
OH come on! Fast Times (<3 Spicoli), Mystic River, 21 Grams, and if you didn't cry during I Am Sam you either have a penis or no heart.
I haven't seen Fast Times nor 21 Grams. Mystic River is good for someone who has insomniac because that put me to sleep faster than any pills could. I Am Sam was good but that's pretty much the only good movie I remember of him. Also off topic.. I heard Stalone started off in the p*rn industry. Anyone can confirm?
That's silly, I'm only 19, but I've seen it. Had to see the famed Phoebe Cates scene. Edit: Stallone did do p*rn work. (Link ) not to actual p*rn...lol
I think people are confusing the term overrated with somebody they just don't like. "Overrated" means a person who's accomplishments aren't equal to the public's perception of him/her. Not only has Nicholson won three Oscars and been nominated for 12, but his last three films have all grossed over $100 million. I'd say that's pretty damn good for an actor that's 70. Most actors Nicholson's age are doing TV movies for Lifetime or appearing on sitcom episodes as somebody's grandfather. If you don't like him, that's fine, but to call him "overrated" is simply a disservice to all the work he's put in the past 50 years or so. BTW, here is the trailer for The Bucket List...looks pretty good. http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809812665/video/4070964
Here's one...Harrison Ford. He hasn't made a decent flick since The Fugitive (and I think that's even overrated).
Brad Pitt is a great actor, Have you guys seen "Legends of the Fall", truly one of the great performances in film. Not to mention, Fight Club Snatch Babel Seven 12 Monkeys Oceans Eleven Seven Years in Tibet True Romance A River Runs Through it Kalifornia
Indiana Jones! Star Wars! Freakin Blade Runner!!!!!!? He is an icon, He doesnt need to do anymore.... Denzel!, How could someone actually write that.....? Glory Hurricane Malcolm X Training Day Remember the Titans He Got Game Philadelphia etc. etc. etc. btw, watch out for American Gangster....
I think overrated means people's who's skills aren't equal to perception. acting is all perception, you can't post a bunch of numbers like in sports. jordan winning championships is different from jack winning oscars. someone voted on that oscar maybe because they thought the skill was better than it actually was.
not just that, obviously reading this thread people have different definitions of "great actor" for some it range, for some its screen presence, etc. so my definition of overrated maybe different from yours.
