Dude - did you see Clooney in any movies lately? Three Kings Oceans Eleven From Dusk Till Dawn The Perfect Storm O Brother Where Art Thou? (never saw - heard it was good) My vote goes to Richard Gere - I can't stand him. Although I did like the Red Sqare, Pretty Woman, and An Officer and A Gentleman.
No I haven't. Cause if I see his face I feel like throwing up! I did see some of Perfect Storm in the theater. I started to get sick after watching George Clooney for a while and had to sleep throughout the rest of that retarted movie.
Is Hugh Grant really worthy of so much praise? I have to ask, since I've never really seen a flick he's in. Maybe he's a good actor, can't say. And I don't know about Clooney, but Three Kings kicks ass.
good night...our dislikes are similar!!! I started compiling a list in my head as I was hitting this thread and instantly Keanu Reeves and Tarantino came to mind! I'm simply annoyed by Glen Close...Affleck, too. I give Cruise a little more credit than you do, but all in all I agree with your list
I liked Afleck in his Kevin Smith roles, and in GWH, but in his other movies he is pretty crappy. This makes me think maybe he isn't crp, he just can't pick a part to save his life. Forces of Nature, Bounce, c'mon man you won the Oscar for God's sake.
The Titanic kid. . . he did the beach Af-FLACK sucks [every time i hear Ben Affleck I see the duck from the Affack commercial] Adam Sandler is garbage. . . . Every movie is basically the same bull sh*t plot . . .with minor adjustments Let's see. . .He'll play someone that is SUPER IMMATURE or with a mental disability. Rocket River
Ben Affleck irritates the hell out of me, and I am pi$$ed off that he is the new Jack Ryan. Brad Pitt would be my number one overall pick, though.
I'm gonna get trashed for this one, but I would choose Harrison Ford. Sometimes his dramatic/comedic turns are OK; maybe he matches up with good directors (Presumed Innocent; Witness). But too often he comes up with Random Hearts, Sabrina, et al. (Check out his "love" scene in Random Hearts; I guess he's supposed to be consumed and confused at the same time, but when he's kissing Kristen Scott Thomas, he looks like he's eating dog food. She is definitely not dog food.) And yet Harrison Ford is one of my favorite actors. Go figure. I guess I know which movies to avoid (my sister rented the aforementioned dog-food-kiss movie when my fiancee and I were staying at her house; ugh! I thought, remembering the reviews, but managed to watch about half or more).
I don't like Affleck either, but the movies Changing Lanes and The Sum of All Fears (?) certainly look promising. My vote for most overrated is/was (is he still acting?) Jim Carrey. EDIT: Oh, and add David Arquette to that...that guy sucks big-time.
Dustin Hoffman---yeah, he made a good rainman, and he's had a few good roles, but his emotional roles often seem over-the-top and......well......acted. I often see people put him the same category as Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino, and I just don't see it. Val Kilmer is probably the most underrated actor, and Brad Pitt will probably end up being the best actor of my day.
The Graduate All the President's Men Midnight Cowboy Marathon Man Kramer Versus Kramer Rainman Tootsie All of these were world-class performances that were all extremely diverse in nature. He is a method actor which has a tendancy to put him over the top but he is always mentioned in the same breath with the best actors on the screen. I like DeNiro and Pacino but they often play themselves in films - the tough guy New Yorker. Granted, they do it better than anyone else, but it isn't much of a stretch.
Jeff, you left out my favorite movie of his, Papillon. Of course, there was also the Ishtar's and the Sphere's and the Billy Bathgate's (movies I didn't especially like). Hell, I even enjoyed the popcorn flick, Outbreak. He was in some great flicks, and he was responsible for some great scenes, and I think he even strung quite a few of them together in a few movies. But too often, I watch him and think to myself, "he's acting." Of course he's acting....he's an actor. But when I stop to think that to myself, it subtracts from the movie. And it certainly subtracts from my respect for him as an actor. Do I think he's a good actor? Absolutely. Close to greatness. Do I think he stands up there amongst the elite? Nope. Sorry...I don't see it. Just one man's opinion.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme or Stephen Seagal yet. Combined, they are the three-headed monster of crappy male actors.
Well, while Bruce Willis is touted as a good actor by some, I have never really heard anyone say they thought Jean-Claude Van Damme or Stephen Seagal were good actors, so it would be hard for them to be overrated.
Well, I'll say this, I don't care for Hoffman, personally. I think he is talented but he generally bugs the crap out of me.
