whitmore actually made several nice passes tonight, even dumbass reggie miller noticed. the problem is that we have no structure or go-to plays on offense which is something a player like cam needs most. get him wide open shots and give n go’s and he averages 20 a game
I think FVV and CAM would be the players most likely to be traded as they are the sure pieces gone in any big or impactful trade.
princeton offense, triangle offense, clear out offense, 5 out offense, 7 seconds or less offense, run n gun offense, moving screens offense, dump it in n pass out offense, pnr to death offense, etc etc etc what exactly is our system or identity on offense? udoka is a fuking joke on this side of the floor and that’s why the hallmark of his head coaching career has been long scoring droughts
Amen’s play on this road trip changed the calculus when Jabari returns, so I agree that Amen will remain a starter and Jabari will be one of the first players off the bench when he returns.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rockets/article/nba-trade-deadline-deaaron-fox-20058473.php “I think we have an amazing team,” center Alperen Şengün said. “We have pieces at every position and extra man. I think we are in a good spot but that’s a coach and (GM Rafael Stone thing to do. So we just gonna go over there and play. They do what they do, we do what we do.” Asked what he would tell Udoka and Stone if he could, Şengün said, “I love my team. I wouldn’t say anything. I wouldn’t change anything about my team.” “I never think about the trade deadline. They got banks everywhere, first (place) and 15th,” VanVleet said. “(The deadline) comes and goes and whatever decisions management and ownership makes, you know, they make. That's just been my philosophy since I've been in the NBA. But yes, being in the position that we're in, I think it can calm the nerves a little bit for young guys maybe, but me personally I never really cared about the trade deadline. It is what it is and there's nothing you can control, so it's really no point in worrying about it.” Although vibes won't dissuade the front office from doing business, the Rockets are unlikely to make any blockbuster moves before the Thursday trade deadline, according to a person familiar with the situation. That includes trading for Sacramento Kings star guard De’Aaron Fox, whose impending free agent status in 2026 makes him a poor fit with Houston’s timeline and who would likely command more in return than the Rockets are willing to give up. If the Rockets do anything, it is more possible that they offload expiring deals and try to acquire assets that would give them more flexibility in the offseason. Three Rockets are on expiring contracts: Center Steven Adams, forward Jeff Green and forward Jae’Sean Tate. Two others, guard Aaron Holiday and center Jock Landale, have relatively inexpensive salaries (Holiday makes less than $5 million per year and Landale is owed $8 million per year) that could make them useful trade chips. For now, though, the Rockets are content to ride out the rest of this season without making drastic changes to the roster.
They don't own a lot of picks but most believe that they have some potentially very good picks ..... the Brooklyn 27 swap, the PHX picks and the unprotected best of pick from Dallas / PHX and I forget the 3rd team. Those picks are perceived at this point to be high value ...
The figure is actually $19.293m after letting FVV walk and renouncing Adams, Tate & Green. Then you take a look at the PG's available via FA ..... Here's the PG list - 2025 NBA Free Agents The only other PG on that list I'd have any interest in is Tyus Jones ..... good player and hurts PHX. I dunno what kind of offer he might get .... The rest of the FA list is either too expensive, too old or just not very good. FVV may actually be the best player available (Kyrie?) regardless of the cost.
Sorry, just seeing this. By space I was referring to the second apron space such that Rockets still have ability to aggregate salaries and don't get picks frozen. Basically, the Rockets look like they will be an above the cap team for at least the next seven years and probably much longer (just too many good young players). The Rockets would have to lose more talent to get below the cap than they could get with cap space and the room MLE. The next couple of years, expect the Rockets to try to have salaries close to the 1st apron or 2nd apron such that they have salaries to make trades while maintaining either below 1st or 2nd apron flexibility. As such, when I say space in connection to the Rockets, it will be about 1st apron or 2nd apron.
I think this has been likely since even before Sengun and Green were extended. Also, dipping below the cap would mean anyone signed with cap space, room mle, and Brooks would be the only non-young players with salaries capable of matching a star contract. I think Stone is fine if young players are great enough that they don't need to bring in someone from outside. I don't think he's going to close the door on big trades until Amen is on his extension without having to deal rotation players. I think getting cap space closes the door on making a star trade and still having depth (i.e., they will have to deal from rotation to match salary if they drop to below the cap as overall payroll will be much smaller).
One of these follows Ime's rebirth of Angelou's vision...but you don't give up much for Rob Will. Stone loves health. Washington is all over us. Even Kuz wouldn't mind linking up with his buddy Monte... Oh wait, PHX wants us to believe all is well there. Jusef and Monte...tik tik
