Congrats to AB for the well deserved award. Durant was just a chucker last season. He got his points with low efficiency, and he was not much of a defender. This year he has improved tremendously in his scoring efficiency and defense. He has made the leap from an above average player to arguably the top 5 player in the league right now. I would consider that a hell of improvement.
Well Durant improved from a good, but inconsistent scorer to arguably a top 5 player in the league. That's significant improvement. He showed signs at the end of last year but put a full season together to realize his potential (which doesn't always happen). But Congrats to AB. Surprised Bogut didn't get too many votes. Probably too many years in the league now.
Huh? Not remotely true. You must be thinking of his rookie year, and even that wasn't bad aside from his long range shooting.
Well...AB defintely grow up this year in front of everyone's eyes. He was pretty raw last year...but really grow up without Yao. I think Yao will be happy to see that...
Well, I just looked up his stats and I guess I was thinking about his rookie season. Who actually watched the Thunders last season when they were not playing the Rockets?
Ease up off, AB. Not everyone is comfortable with speaking in front of crowds and cameras. It doesn't make him a dumbass or anything. I don't get why people always make a big deal out of athletes and public speaking skills. We don't watch these guys for their talk. He gets paid millions to play ball, not give enticing interviews.

I'm surprised Zach Randolph only got 1 vote, and that was for 3rd place. Also, how did Howard get 1 first place vote?
Yeah, but couldn't that have been said for LeBron or Kobe too? Durant, just like those guys, was expected to be good or great. They all started out good, won the ROY, and then improved to become great in their second and third years. This is common for many superstars. I don't think that is the true goal of the MIP.
Here is the whole ceremony with Bill Worrell as the emcee! <object width="388" height="394" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="ep"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="movie" value="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&videoId=channels/award_nominees/2010/04/22/20100422_mip_brooks_presser.nba" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><embed src="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&videoId=channels/award_nominees/2010/04/22/20100422_mip_brooks_presser.nba" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="388" wmode="transparent" height="394"></embed></object>
