We never know exactly, but the players genuinely seem to be happy and pulling for each other last year-- there was towel waving by everyone from Yao Ming to Novak. The only miserable looking one of the bunch was Spanoulis. I doubt the Minny sideline shots were ever that cheerful looking even back when they were still in the playoff hunt.
awesome read. man minny is f'd up. makes you realize how much "behind the scenes" stuff we never even see. kg isn't the warrior saint everyone wants to make him out to be. but i'd still take him in a heartbeat.
Say what you will about him, but I highly doubt Les would put up with any of that type of stuff. The Rudy force-out had a lot to do with Rudy's lenient attitude towards player cliqueishness (Steve, Cat, Moochie etc.).
Great read. Some items that stood out to me: 1) If McHale doesn't focus on details (using their example: not knowing European players) then he shouldn't be GM. Period. 2) It's amazing to see how a all-star player can have so much pull on a team. 3) The coach, GM, and owner on that team are complete wussies. They should not be allowing the players to dictate the roster. And they shouldn't let the players get away with shorting their performance if they don't get their way. Those are chumps, not champs, and shouldn't get any playing time. 4) makes me wonder what kind of drama goes on with the Rockets!
That was also the most self-serving interview ever. Taylor ruined that franchise with the Joe Smith deal, then blames KG -- whose sin appears to be, what, not caring when the owner pulled him aside to address petty crap like "what Ricky said?" -- for its woes.
That about sums it up. Casey is twice of a coach compared with Whittman. In the last 4, 5 years, what has McHale done? Blunders after blunders. There were better offer than Boston's on the table for KG, and yet he sent KG to his alma mater. I like the PP interviews. It's like a shrink interviewing his patient, trying to get out truth for it's innerself. Great follow-up questions. Open him up pretty good. Makes me wonder what "gosh-darn" means for a sec.
Adelman doesn't really have a loose coaching style. He adapts his game a little to the players, and he lets them figure things out, but he definitely imposes his will. He's certainly not as hard-nosed as JVG, but he's a much stricter coach than say Rudy T.
