MLS is ok. But I'd much rather go see the US National Team play in a tourney or a friendly (Gold Cup or something). US v. Mexico in the flesh is a spectacle unlike any other in sports. Horse racing is great too...oh how it helped stretch the rent money when the work was scarce. But I really like watching it...I grew up around horses so I get pretty into it. And bullfighting rocks...you kids with your "rock and roll" and contempt for stories of bravado and the Spanish Civil War...grumble....grumble Seriously though...how many of you have actually *been* to a bullfight? what do I hate?: 1. Cricket (game takes days and is painfully boring, I think it is to Americans what baseball is to non-baseball playing people) 2. X-games ESPN2 filler 3. NASCAR (driving fast on a track is fun -- paying money to watch others do it is not) 4. Wrestling (I think the grievances have been well covered, if I want that sort of drama, I can just read King Lear) 5. Hockey (I've seen the Aeros, the Icebats, and the LA Kings...just can't get into it) 6. Golf (its fun to play on my PDA...that's about it) 7. NFL (I'm trying to be a Texans fan, but pro football hasn't been the same for me since the Oilers left Houston) 8. Women's soccer and basketball (when I watch women, I want to see them doing things that women do better than men, like figure skating and gymnastics, which I love to watch). 9. Tennis (I think it suffers from the same white-collar stigma that golf does) 10. Dog racing (much as I like horse racing, dogs don't do much for me...can't get into it)
Nascar fan #2 here, you're not alone Meg. It's close to #1 along with football on my favorite sport list.
YAY!!! Although it doesnt change the fact that we are definitely in the minority here. Who's your fav? Where's IROC-it - is he a race fan or what? Just out of curiosity....
If you are going to watch racing, at least watch Le Mans or Formula 1. You know, the ones where the track is not just a big oval.
Rusty Wallace fan here, eternal dissapointment for me, since I'm 17 and was 3 when he won his championship. Newman is my second favorite, and I look forward to watching him win for years to come.
Part of your name is right. It's stupid as hell to tell someone what to like and what not to like. It makes me sick that people always tell me not to watch NASCAR because it's boring. I like it, that's that. I like F1 and such as well, but rare passing makes me flip the channel honestly.
OMG, you are the very first person ever to come up with that one. Stop wasting your time watching NASCAR and become a professional comedian ASAP.
I think that certain ppl need to grow up. Have we picked on you because you like/dislike certain sports? no. So just let it be. I happen to like any kind of motorsports: NHRA, Bike racing, formula 1, IRL, NASCAR, street racing... doesnt matter. I like racing.
Every time someone says that I want to choke them, seriously. What is it than? A game? NASCAR requires skill, physical endurance, and a ton of guts to be competitive at it, I don't know how much more of a sport you can make it. Maybe you'd rather watch them push their cars. I hate having to defend NASCAR every time I hear it mentioned and state that I am a fan of it.
I'm sorry dude...I've known that irks NASCAR fans for quite awhile; specifically meggo here. I say stuff like that all the time in the real world just to piss her off, that's all I was doing here. An inside joke of sorts... I definitely consider it a sport, to be honest. I didn't mean for you to take that the wrong way, like I said - it was just a jab at her. I've never been a fan of NASCAR, but now she's got me into the stuff to some point...discussing how many consecutive Talladega's Dale Jr.'s won and what not. Even though I'm not a true fan, I can agree with you on your new favorite racer. I just like Newman because he's the type of guy that will go for a win where other people would just take a low finish because they're too scared of losing ground in the points standings due to a DNF from engine failure. He's got several of those; but he's also got the most #1 finishes out of anybody. That's how I would play the sport() myself.
What kind of wuss you guys are to consider NASCAR as anything close to a sport? NASCAR isn't a sport, a nanny that can knit for 2 hours straight can win a NASCAR race. Now monster trucks are totally different...
Nevermind. Shoot. Posting before reading really makes meggo an idiot. But the real idiot here is Panda.
I can't watch soccer unless it is world cup action and I have money on it. Hey Pasox2, you said you don't like baseball, but everytime I read your name I think you're talking about the AAA team of the Boston Red Sox, the Pawtucket Red Sox, who are called the "Paw Sox".
Ok, put that grandma in a 140+ degree car for 3-4 hours, working the wheel turning up to 1000 times a race, trying to concentrate and not hit cars she can't see while listening to her spotter tell her where the cars are. I am not good at defending my sport, but you just made a really idiotic statement panda. No prob, DallasThomas, I get some grief from some of my friends like that. Also, admit that you're a fan, come on! You know you want to!
Sounds like my grandma's trip to the grocery store each week! (Only she's driving at 20 mph). Now you know why I stay off the roads.
I can see why an outsider wouldnt like Cricket. In Australia Cricket is our version of baseball. Its not that old stuffy English version alot of people have seen. One Day Internationals a alot better then the Five Day Test Matches. A ODI is very much like a day at the baseball. I would imagine U.S. sport fans would find it a little strange watching teams like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West Indies play. Thats one thing I think you guys miss out on, regular international competition in the sports you love.
