This is not me saying this, because I do not actually hate or seriously dislike anyone in the NBA to point of distaste. Generally speaking, I could not care any less about these guys, as the same they would with me. As far as the general public goes . .. I would say most disliked NBA figures or players: 1. David Stern 2A. Mr. Ex-Kim Kardashian (Kris Humphries, still don't know why he's so hated, but it has sure made a d@mn basketball player). 2B. Lebron James (I think he was little disliked before the decision and FA talk, but those things sort of magnified his hate). 4. Kobe Bryant (For some reason, he still has a legion of haters, or people who just are not into him, even if he did not play for the Lakers or became an irrelevant player. I still think he would have his haters). 5. Joey Crawford (It's been said, if you are referee and people know who you are that's already a bad thing. If you are a referee and you have reputation, and universally disliked by fans. Y Karl Malone is mostly hated by Spurs and Rockets fans (and some of his peers), but he generally isn't hated. KG is mild at best. These other choices are mostly small groups of fans who simply dislike a player. Most hated NBA personnel ever . . .thinking of a player who just got booed in every arena and was criticized by peers and writers/analysts. It's going to be mostly modern athletes, because everything is so heighten nowadays and you see things aren't quite as private and players tend to be a little bit more off the cusp in interviews. 1. Most hated teams ever: 1988-91 Detroit Pistons (Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Rick Mahorn, John Salley, and Dennis Rodman) 2. David Stern: Quite possibly most hated commissioner in modern sports history. Some feel that he's biggest reason the NBA has suffered some not so pleasant moments. Though, he was at the helm in the league's golden age. So, it's kind damned if you do, damned if you don't. Still, I'm not sure he's as hated as Bud Selig. 3. Most hated player ever (in active career): LeBron James: Back in the summer 2010, I had never seen that much vitriolic and venomous language and displays against one player in modern history that I had seen against Lebron James. Though, he still has not quite reach Barry Bonds level, yet though. It is still hard for me to imagine that much hatred for an NBA player who has never committed any kind heinous or violent felonies. I guess I could understand the hate more, if he supported terrorists (openly), molested a young child, or committed a few rapes. 4. Most hater player ever (in active/post NBA career): Isiah Thomas: He wasn't the most liked player in the world as player, but for some reason when he started running the Knicks the dislike for him went through the roof. 5. Dennis Rodman, though later on he started become more embrace with the Bulls and towards the twilight years of his career. Though, kicking a camera man and headbutting a referee were probably not the most kosher things in the world, and people often expressed their dislike for such an NBA player. He also made some comments about Bird in his younger days, and distasteful comment about Mormons. 6. Kobe Bryant: It was a steady build with Kobe, as it started with his feuds with Shaq and sometimes Phil Jackson. He's eagerness to be a megastar in the mode of Michael Jordan and branding himself in egotistical way. The rape allegations. The TV press conference with his wife (what was the point of that). 7. Bill Laimbeer: Very aggressive and physical player, known for dirty tactics. Some claim he is the originator of flopping. 8. Isiah Rider: "Probably the most hated player by his own team's fans." 9.Rick Barry: He's hated amongst old-timers for "speaking his mind" and being somewhat petulant. 10. Kermit Washington: The punch
He doesn't have killer instinct, or at least hasn't shown it yet. Yes, I know that is the supposed ONE knock on the guy but it is what separates the men from the boys. I dislike his enormous ego, he desperate attempts to get everyone to like him, and his general happy go lucky attitude when things go well/ woe is me when things go wrong. He constantly regrets pretty much every statement he makes or has to clarify what he said because he is afraid to make people mad. I also HATE the fact that anyone that doesn't like LeBron is labeled a "hater" dumbest word ever and it is the weakest comeback/defense of the supposed chosen one.
A. You realize this poll is ENTIRELY about hate, right? B. Yeah, I guess that's why I hate Duncan, Jordan, Pierce, Wade, Dirk, etc so much, huh? Kobe is just a douche. Plain and simple. Yeah, he cares about winning (and please don't go into this "back in the good ol days" crap. people have always been greedy and selfish, and even Kobe is no exception), but he's also a cocky, rude, whiny douchebag.
^^^ (Just so we're clear, point B was sarcasm. I like all of those guys a hell of a lot more than Kobe) So yeah, bottomline, just because someone dissed your favorite player is no reason for you to catch feelings, broyo.
Wow 20% of the people who voted said Lebron? It would be atleast 50% for Stern and 25% for Crawford and the other 25% for Malone.
