Sf has a burgeoning thrift/vintage market based on individual tastes and customer owner relationships.. but overall its not so conscious. Dallas is all boutiques , which has more mainstream appeal. Boutique outlets would help a city on this list .. what else is a teen going to look at besides a mall with gap!
Sorry, no. SF is not less fashionable than Chicago and Dallas. Here's a better list. http://www.languagemonitor.com/category/fashion/fashion-capitals/ Also to add, here's a survey from people's take from them visiting cities. http://www.travelandleisure.com/americas-favorite-cities/2012/category/people/stylish
These lists are always so informational and interesting. The criteria are spot on, and this one specifically piques my interest because... Spoiler oh wait, no it doesn't... because I'm not a woman.
I said it was less conscious. Dallas and Chicago have huge downtowns, a lot of boutiques and corporate jobs, with a fast paced social environment. That makes you more validation oriented. Sf has gays and hippies, they rarely give a ****. if they do they move to la or ny, which is still the Galveston of the Mediterranean like pipsta mentioned.
This methodology doesn't make any sense. Most fashion trend-settign doesn't occur with purchases from Nieman's or Bloomingdales, those are the followers.
There are probably a couple of good websites where you can see for yourself. I'll let Moes compile a list for you.
You should care because it says a lot about your woman.. that she is not very sophisticated and into looking good. Maybe a little too simple minded for eclectic tastes. Maybe afraid of being judged physically. Maybe just eating her way to death. Gomp Gomp Gomp. That's what the stats say, not me!
Nice <s>troll</s> try. How do you know I'm not in Irvine, the fashion capital of...meh too funny. This is the shallow end, even for you. Besides, I'm more of a 'the person makes the clothes' type. And no, I don't mean that I'm a taylor.
Agreed. The title of this study should be "Cities with highest percentage of people who buy $300 cufflinks or whatever"
am i remember wrong, or is ronny the poster that started a thread on very very short swimming shorts a few years ago?
Ummm people in SF don't really dress up cuz of the heavy tech culture. A tshirt and hoodie is not exactly fashion forward. You can go to a nice lounge or a $$$ restaurant in a tshirt and jeans and you still get the same quality service as if you wore a suit. That's the beauty of SF. You never know who is a baller based on how they dress. NYC is the opposite of SF. Everyone has to dress up because of the media/fashion/finance industries. I don't see how NYC is not #1 on this list. Irvine people only have to dress up for one season too.
